Since I'm seeing so many other folks play around with the Rangers' style, I figured I'd have a little fun with them too. Beware the utter cuteness! Not very 'restylized' but oh well.
Hehe, couldn't resist playing with the logo either. Sadly, now everyone knows why I don't usually do traditional lettering. I stink at it.
I really hope that I can get my scanner to get the right mix of contrast/brightness someday....soon.
Besides all of the messups and everything else that's wrong with this pic, I'm kinda bugged by the fact that preferring a traditional coloring style rather than a digital one leaves me in a minority. So, there's not really anyone for me to turn to for advice on things like getting a nice, pure-looking white coloring and other improvement tips.

Heh, yeah slowly but surely.
Actually, the mice don't wear their goggles constantly. They do take them off at night and at different points during the day. In Gadget's case, hers seem more like a comfy headband. Speaking from experience, a comfy headband doesn't cause headaches. In fact, sometimes you can forget you're wearing it. I've gone to bed a few times with one on and only remembered it cuz it fell off during the night.

What editor you use? I don't know what it's called in Photoshop, but in GIMP (http://www.gimp.org/) there's a tool called "Fuzzy Select Tool" (Icon looks like a magic wand), just click it and then click the background, then hit delete. May have to repeat in a few areas, but it's not too hard. Might want to play with the tool's threshhold setting a bit, too, see what works best for you.

I use photoshop. And I did try that. Unfortunately, it kept ruining the character details. I kept losing things like Sparky's jacket or messing up Monty's details or Foxglove's coloring. So it wound up just being easier to leave it alone. *shrug* live 'n learn I guess.
