The Potez 453 was a prototype of the french Aéronavale and the fighter variant of the reconnaissance seaplane Potez 450-452, the 452 was the military version and the 450 was the first prototype of this little serie of aeroplanes. 20 or 21 seaplanes of the type Potez 450 were built whose 1 or 2 Po.450, 17 Po.452 and only 1 Po.453. Spain has bought a building licence of the 452 in February 1936 but which was useless in reason of the beginning of the Spanish war, the Imperial Japanese Navy had also bought a 452 for evaluate its performances in 1937. It was built with a duralumin structure and with magnesium plates but as those last were damaged in the water, they were replaced by aluminium plates.

one of the fellows I work with said the Cessna Caravans on floats that have done this (off the record) suffer far less corrosion from the salt water they operate in.
