Considering the recoil hand cannons produced( http://www.koreanarchery.org/classi.....ps/seungja.mpg ), I guess those who used them would have been bad-ass indeed.

Well, to tell the truth, it was uncommon to fire a chajungjeon(次中箭, the projectile shot in the footage) from a hand cannon; smaller bolts such as chasojeon(次小箭) or sejeon(細箭), and lead balls were much more common projectiles for them.
I'll also have to admit that recoil in the footage is exaggerated; it seems that the shooter, unfamiliar with the weapon, was aiming in wrong posture(the shaft has to be tucked under arm, as shown by this drawing of Ming Dynasty soldiers firing their triple barreled hand cannons at Manchu cavalry) and was unprepared for the recoil.
