COMMISSION - Neighborhood Tree House - by Chuziku

"You sure about this, Uncle Brock?" Caleb looked at our handiwork with a little trepidation. Already the neighborhood kids were swarming all over the tree-house and having a grand old time.
It was funny, I thought, how nervous the boy was right now. I mean, just the other day, he'd been screaming down the hill on a home-made skate-board like a bat out of hell. I guess that just goes to show what a good kid he was. Didn't mind taking unnecessary risks for himself, but never wanted to put anybody else in danger.
"Don't worry about it Caleb. Ye've done a really good job with this. Nothing to worry about." I'd been a little worried when he'd come to me a month ago and said he wanted to build a tree-house for the the neighborhood out on the commons, but I'd agreed to help.
And between the two of us, we'd done a fantastic job on the thing. I designed it, and helped caleb with the measurements and cutting of the wood and such, but most of the physical work had been done by Caleb himself. Of course, I was there to help him and inspect things to make sure he did it all right and safely, but in all honesty there was little I actually needed to do. He was naturally talented as a builder, meticulous in his attention to detail. There was not a single bent nail or loose plank to be found.
"I tell ye, boyo." I said, giving one last pup a boost up the ladder. "This tree-house is still gonna be here entertaining the neighborhood when you've got kids of your own. Good job."
