The first chapter of the second story to Jack's New Life. Mystery of the Nexians is set a few years after the first story ended, near the end of the 5 year trip.
And yeah, couldn't think of a better chapter name.

It’s been a few years, since we went into space. To explore its vast wonders and see the other species and worlds that occupies this galaxy. I will admit, we mainly been to space stations, the amount of planets we been too total has been ten. Not great, but hey, still better than nothing.
I should explain and introduce myself to those new to the story. I’m Jack, and I am a normal Dingo from Earth. Well as normal as someone who got one of the last few Bioships left in the universe. Freya was given to me by a good friend after his Bioship, named ‘Mother’ laid an egg. I can’t explain how it happened, but well Freya grew from the egg and has been growing ever since.
It was a month or two after that, I met Gem. The coyote gunslinger that later became my girlfriend. And I don’t know what my life would be without her in it. We eventually decided to take Freya into space, a few months after a good friend of mine went missing. The reason was to mainly explore the galaxy, but try and see if there was any way out there to find him again.
We were joined over time by Christie a vixen taur, Necetra a cyborg dragoness. Alruna joined us after we found her on a junk world, the Birdplane being glad she wasn’t left there to rust. Serra joined us, after a bit. Well she somehow snuck on board, and all we know is she is some kind of anthro Drakenfox.
At the moment Freya was cruising towards a large space station, ships were leaving and entering nearly all the time. So we waited while the station control was working out order of the ships. I had told the others to let me know when we are moving again, while I got into contact with home.
“How are things going back on Earth?” I asked as I looked at the hologram. The vixen nodded and smiled, she had a motherly figure to her and long green hair. “Well could be better, some nut is rising to power using an army of robots. The clan has scattered, I think all learning how to deal with the robots better. But some are still here, waiting for Fairlyn’s return” she said as I nodded and listened.
“Any news on Balon and what he is doing?” I asked as I wondered what the blue dragon was up to. “Well, I think he is keeping an eye on his girls, as well as going robot hunting. At least that’s what I think, he drops by quite often” Magicka said as I nodded again.
“Jack, we just been given permission to land” Gem called out as I looked up and out towards the door. I nod as I turned and looked at the hologram, “Sorry Magicka. But I will have to cut our char short today. “It’s ok. Have a good time” she said as the hologram started to phase out. “Will do, keep us updated” I said as I nodded as it turned off.
I stood up as I headed for the bridge. “We got permission to dock huh?” I asked as I looked at Gem. “Yeah, they want us to dock in Bay 24” the Coyote said as I took a seat in the captain’s chair, or what we were calling it. The chair was in the centre of the bridge, facing the main view screen. The visor covered face of the station traffic control nodded. “Ship Freya you are cleared to dock. And welcome to Station Base 34” the officer said. “Alright, heading for the bay” I said as the screen turned off.
I turned and nodded to Freya, who nodded back and started to fly towards Bay 24. The station as best can describe it was like a spider web, with saucer like structure at different points. In the centre was a cylinder, the largest part of the station. Freya flew carefully to one of the saucer parts as she entered the docking bay assigned to us.
“Well, I think we got a few days here, so as long as we remember where we are, shouldn’t be a problem” I said as I turned and faced the others. “Yeah, we need to get some supplies anyway” Gem said as she stood up. “Yeah, well I think we should do some checking around, see what we need in terms of supplies” I said as I looked around at the others.
An hour passed as we made our way through Freya, taking a list of what we need. Gem was in the kitchen as she checked the supplies. A noise caught her attention as she looked up. “Hi, Necetra” she said as the dragoness walked in. It was odd to see the cyborg without the anthro Drakenfox that had chosen to hang around her. “Hey Gem” she said, her voice having a slight mechanical sound to it as the cyborg walked in.
“Serra not with you?” Gem asked curious on why Serra was not around. “Yeah, just taking a walk around the ship. She seemed a bit busy so, yeah” Necetra said as she took a seat. “Well, I am up for talking to you. I mean yeah we known each other for a few years, but you seem to mainly talk to Serra” Gem said as she continued to make the list.
“So, anything you want to talk about Necetra?” Gem asked as she looked over her shoulder at her. “Well, not sure to be honest” the cyborg dragoness said as she tried to think of something to speak off. However, Gem smiled as she turned and looked at her. “Well how about your home world?” Gem asked with a smile. The question catching her by surprised, as she didn’t seem to think that would come up. “M...my home world?” she asked, still a bit confused on why the coyote would ask that. “Yeah, your home world, the planet you come from. Surely you must remember a bit about it?” she asked.
Necetra nodded her eyes the only thing showing shock. But under her face plate the shock was clear on her face. “Yes, I do remember. I just didn’t think anyone would be interested in my home world” she said. “Well, I am all ears” Gem said as she put the list down and turned to face the dragoness. She nodded and then spoke up. “Well, what I remember is the sky. Greenish-blue with clouds colour like silver, the sun always made them glow when rising or setting” she said as she started to talk a bit more of her home.
I walked down the hallway before I paused and looked into the hanger. Alruna sat there, as usual and I felt sorry for her each time I checked on her. The Birdplane sat there, resemble a cross between a humanoid bird and a plane hence the name of what she is. I walked closer and looked up. “Hey Alruna, how you holding up today?” I asked as I stopped by her leg. “Hmm? Oh hey Jack yeah, doing ok. Bit boring around here” she said. I nodded and gave a little sigh, knowing she always got lonely in here by herself, even though we do try making efforts to come visit her.
“Well, we have docked at a station. We can try our best to get some fuel for you so you’re not in here all the time” I said as I looked up at her. I then smiled as I looked up at her face, “While we are here, we can try and find something for you” I said. Alruna seemed to think as she looked down at me. “Well besides the fuel, how about a pilot?” she asked. I nod and smiled as I looked up at her. “Alright, I will try to find you a pilot. And don’t worry I remember what the size should be” I said as I stood up and left the hanger.
I headed up for the bridge as I sat in the captain’s chair and looked at Freya. “Open a link to the station, please” I said as the serpent nodded. “Starship Freya, what can we do for you?” the station official asked. “Yeah, we are also going to put in an ad for requesting for a plane of a small vehicle, if that isn’t too hard to do?” I asked and waited. There was a silence and then a reply. “Not a problem, we can put in a request for one. We will let you know when we get replies” the official said, before the link turned off.
I smiled as I stood up and headed for the ramp leading off. “Well, let’s go and mingle among those on this station” I said as Gem and Christie joined me. Necetra and Serra were going to look about as well, at another time. “See you soon” I said before we walked off, heading for the door that lead to the rest of the station.
And yeah, couldn't think of a better chapter name.
