A character I made for an RPG setting thought up by
kalas. Didn't originally plan to do much with this, but the sketch turned out well enough that I decided to at least splash some color on it.
Ruby is a Lorediver, a being who travels into the realm of fiction in order to set right tales that have been tampered with and, in turn, collect the inspiration to revise their own selves. She was once a fictional being herself, a poorly written Mary Sue from a world where she reigned as the beautiful, wise, and powerful warrior queen of Carminia. When her world was taken over by an evil entity, Ruby was spat out into the hub world of stories. Suddenly, she finds herself in a world where she isn't the most important being around, she's far from the flawless beacon of perfection she so strongly believes she is, and the consequences of her actions are no longer glossed over by a biased author. Though her intentions are heroic, her upbringing has left her incapable of seeing herself as wrong, let alone selfish, gluttonous, and brutish, all of which slowly begin to take effect on her appearance. Now a massive, fat hulk of her former self, one question hangs over her literary quest: how does a Mary Sue deal with being so flawed?
