Something I did as part of my Speech Class (I had to teach a "how to" on something so i decided on doing heads)
Anyways This is my process on how i draw my heads. You're more than welcome to use this but please know that there are other and MUCH better Tutorials around if your willing to look.
Basic Steps
~~~~~~~
1) Start with a Circle, Don't worry about it being perfect because that's going to change as it goes along.
2) Section your Facial Guidelines. with a Cross as i have shown. Your nose (on a human) will be right where the Cross intersects. but with a muzzle that will be slightly different.
3) Flesh out your muzzle to your character with the bridge and protrusion of the snout. with two lines just beside where the center of your face will be.
4) Get rid of Any Guidelines that are in the way of you muzzle (or what's behind it)
5) Research and Look at Ears of your character's Species and flesh them out. they tend to be a bit higher on the head than Human ears. more along the Scalp / top of the head. also do not forget the nose (NOTE: The Hair, Eyes, and Ears are all a personal preference.)
5 A-C) Some examples of ears for a few Canine Characters being: a German Shepard Mutt with the one ear flopped. Retriever Ears which are both Down and floppy. And a Long Haired Dachshund ears.
6) At this point i Finished off my final Headshot and made GreyStripe in Class for everyone to see my Process. But what I normally do is Outline the Eyes, mouth and eyebrows. And like i said your hair is your choice.
As i said you are welcome to use this tutorial but this is more Basic than what you can find if you look elsewhere. But if you are looking into starting to draw try to make your own Style.
