Experimenting with Ceramic Tile. It handles quite differently from the porcelain that I'm used to. Its got a lot of resistance on its surface, but as soon as you get through that it melts like butter. The carved areas are about 1/4" deep.
We've needed a trivet for ages, so this was as good as an excuse as any.
