# Jack-O-Lantern

So I'm sure you're all wondering by now how it took me THIS long to put in Jack-O-Lanterns into a Halloween Countdown, especially one with this year's theme, well the reason is I simply ADORE them. Yeah, I know, it's weird to know I have such a set love of a specific feature of Halloween but I do. Besting out scarecrows for roughly the same reason I like them. (though really jack-o-lanterns and scarecrows are so often one and the same) Jack-O-Lanterns to me just ARE the purest example of Halloween. It IS the symbol for Halloween, if I could I'd have made them win for that soul reason and I almost did. I have a character that could easily win the title of Halloween any day, but... I REALLY didn't want to have a flaming pumpkin win two years in a row so... I sadly had to decline. Don't worry guys, you're always winners in my heart~
This was an idea I just couldn't contain to one design, I mean really, jack-o-lanterns are like snow flakes, no two are the same! So I just had to have a little more fun with this one and draw multiples. As I'm sure you noticed I popped Gourdon in there, while I tried my best to avoid using characters I've already created in order to keep myself more fresh and original for this I just couldn't avoid it. I love his design, for a simple background character I designed him to a point that I could use him as main character and his look is the epitome of how I like to define pumpkin ghosts, so I made an exception.
Despite my love of them, pumpkin ghosts aren't extremely common in Purgatory, mainly because as much as it MAY look like it, the land of the dead isn't Halloween Town... IT ISN'T! ...I swear! ...maybe. In any case, they do show usually only in cases where ghosts inhabit gourds, or the former living person had some connection to the vegetable. Regardless, jack-o-lanterns are the quirkiest creatures in the Netherworld, even more so then skeletons. No one really knows what they'll do or what they're thinking. They don't have an agenda or seemingly a strong attention span they just... do. They also all seem to have a pension for wearing massive overcoats. Again, no one knows why and most prefer to not ask them to find out why, they kind of creep everyone out...
