If you are using the hot water method. Try using a steamer and a iron board next time
~ cuts time in half and you save yourself pain. *been making dreads for 8 yrs now* -xo

I didn't realize you could use a steamer for woolies! I've been told that rolling them with boiling water felts the fibers quicker.
Maybe I'll try that next time :O

Any form of steam will seal the dreadlocks. Hot boiling water, spray and flat iron but steamer method is best personally to me
it saves on pain from burns or risk of burns. Saves on money from having to boil n reboil over n over. -xo

I used up 1.2 lbs of wool roving, with a tiny bit left over from when I tapered the ends. I can maybe make a tiny felted kitty out of it. Hmm...
They are SUPER long though, if I had made them a couple inches shorter I could have probably had enough for around 50-55 DE's.

Haha well they look absolutely gorgeous. I love the fades. I keep wanting to do long dreads too but I never have enough wool. X3 Possibly this time I might. Since I only have a third of my head to cover.

Yussss agreed. Hahaha sure! I can do zat. I'm working on finishing my old set of swamp colors. But I'm more hoping to work on my candy corn ones. Which is gonna' be a neat experiment in dip dyeing. X3

Ahhh these look so soft compared to most synthetic dreads made out of the plastic hair! I know for a fact how damn itchy they are.
I'm sure they will look absolutely epic on you! I've been debating doing synth dreads again ^_^

I couldn't bring myself to go through that itching and irritation again which is why I opted for wool instead of kenkalon xD
The last two times I could barely keep the dreads in for more than two weeks, I think my scalp doesn't like the chemicals they treat the plastic with. Woolies are supposed to be a lot lighter and cushiony too, so the chronic headaches should go away as well!

You should totally do it again! Even if you end up changing your mind, it takes all of what, half an hour to take them out?

I tend to make mine with synthetic hair which is a little easier in my opinion, but these are FANTASTIC

Just google "How to make wool dreads" and the first couple of links are very helpful and detailed :) Also if you search Tina Tianen on youtube she has very good video tutorials on how to make wool dreads.
