This is one of a couple of characters that
JakeRabbit and I were futzing about with for a series of stories he's writing in a universe of his own creation.
At a certain point in the timeline, interstellar ships become so large and complex that they require an AI to run them. The AI have physical and holographic avatars for a variety of purposes and reasons. As part of their creation and growth process, the AI picks their physical form. Their name is their ship's designation, but invariably they are given nicknames by their crews.
In this case, we have here "Little Squeaker", who for her own reasons prefers to manifest herself as a small Mus in Victorian garb. This is just a bit incongruous with her reality: she is the "mind" of a Dreadnaught-class warship, with the brevet rank of Commander.

AI of CND-78 "Dark Suns." All the brass were patting themselves on the backs during the formal commissioning for a "Job Well Done." They'd built a new class of ship capable of pushing back against an enemy with unclear motivations and ship technology obviously built with aggression as the primary purpose. Built to take quite a few hits and keep on ticking, and with enough reactors to power all the ship's systems twice over, she was a triumph of technology and lessons learned, fast tracked through only the most trusted government contractors at twice the price.
When you're pressed for time, and under a literal gun, you do what you can to never fall behind the schedule. Consequentially, the construction crew knew exactly what shortcuts had been taken where and what corridors you didn't want to be stuck in during a hostile encounter. Sure, she could take a full frontal assault from the enemy's railguns and come out punching, but stay tied to your chairs, put a lid on your whiskey glass, and don't linger too long in corridor 22A unless you want to be sporting the "Mange" look for the next year.
It might also be of note that one shouldn't ask too many questions about where the main systems contractor, Inondine, got the AI core from. There's always a little quirkiness with AI personalities, but the Admirals were quickly pointing fingers when it emerged that the Dark Suns' AI was a bit...rogue. Nevermind that she reminds a large portion of the crew of a bubbly younger sister and goes by the moniker "Little Squeaker" or "Squeaky." Nevermind that she has the personality of a bubbly child coupled with an insanely complex and deeply faceted artificial neural net, compounded with having extremely lethal armaments and armor plating that could withstand direct nuclear events.
No, the brass couldn't handle it because the biggest gun in their toybox was controlled by a small girl who loved pretty dresses and petticoats as its uniform instead of pressed blues.
Gods save you if you ever got on the wrong end of a temper tantrum, however.
