With apologies to Jodi Benson ....
I'm currently rigging RyokuKitsune's latest Renamon model, and wanted to try out a new toon inking process I'd discovered online. So I did a quick (four hour) draft render at low resolution first to see if it'd work in motion.
I'll likely re-render it at higher resolution later, when I have a day to kill.
This technique requires two render passes ... the first with colours and shadows, and a second using a special falloff shader, on which I apply a high pass filter and then adjust levels to create the inked outlines. The lines are overlayed on top of the colour render to create the final result.
The original tutorial was written with Photoshop in mind, but Paint Shop Pro has the same features, and I was able to construct a similar filter chain in my video editor, VirtualDub. I think it turned out quite well, but I'll let you be the judge.
UPDATE:
Now re-rendered and resubmitted at 640x480 resolution. This time, the colour pass took five hours to complete; the falloff pass took eleven hours for various technical reasons; post-processing and compositing the outlines added an additional ten minutes.
A copy in DivX format is available at Stagevu.

I have to admit, at first I was really hesitant to watch this. But I sucked it up and... wow! Excellent! Fantastic job.
And I hope RyokuKitsune finishes the rigging to his satisfaction. The poser model of her might be the only thing that would bring me back to Poser ATM.
(PS. What a fitting choice of song, even if the voice seems out of place. ;>)

may need to exaggerate some of the vowels more to make it feel like shes actually saying it. what would help if u had the corners of the mouth come in more for the 'O' and 'U'. example; when she says "world" at the end, should had her lips puckered for the 'wo'. what can help as well is rig a tongue to help with some of the wording.
I've only made a couple of viseme morphs, so far. The animation was also created with an old lipsync file not specifically generated for this character. After I've finalised the v2 mesh, I'll give her a full set of visemes and run her through Mimic properly.
She does have a tongue, though it isn't terribly visible at this angle and with these morphs.
You make an interesting point about exaggeration. I've considered creating separate config files for spoken and sung dialogue.

The lip sync looks good... But it's hard to tell with nothing else happening.
And it also looks a little wrong somehow. I'm not sure if it's the fact the mouth retains a constant width, or my memmories of the expressions of the original song. Using a disney song might not have been the best choice for the latter reason; though I agree it's quite appropriate for Renamon.
It made me smile to see this though. It great to see animation like Kaze wasn't just a one off.

Very impressive work! I could swear that I could almost lipread what she was singing. :)
The artwork and shading was very good! I am surprised that you could do this with Paint Shop Pro. Everyone tells me that Photoshop is THE software and the ONLY software that's powerful enough to do *anything* of any worth or note. Very impressive work! You gotta tell me someday how you did all that. :)
