Since I announced my pregnancy, it's been a common topic in my streams, and a few people have asked for updates. Today we had our first ultrasound, so I figured it was a good time to do so! I didn't have a preference of sex, as each child will be unique, other than the fact that I had more boy names picked out than girl names, and what do you know? We're having a little boy. :) His name is Elijah!
He is going to wreck those spots, I'm sure.

You have no idea how much you've made me happy hearing this.
I've always felt the fandom isn't really something you should expose your kids to as a 'normality' thing. Letting them discover them on the internet and come to their own conclusions later is one thing, but..
Anyway. Consider this a totally genial noncreepy bid for the best of luck with you and yours!

Me too! The whole process of making a baby is so interesting to me. Experiencing it so far sure has been a trip! A lot of the symptoms that I -thought- were third trimester actually come much sooner. :P We planned this baby, so I'm definitely ready, but still also scared. x3 Of so many things.
Congrats to you and your family! ^_^ Out of curiosity how soon did you start feeling symptoms? My love and I are trying right now and it's been about a week and a half? Wont actually get to find out for another week or two x.x I'm totally ready for all of this, and I think he's even more excited than I am xD
I confirmed it at about 4 weeks but I was suspicious before then. My boobs changed very quickly. I have really small boobs, so any change is very noticeable to me. They get bigger each month for my period, but when they got bigger and the period never came, I got suspicious. :P They were also tender. I felt the fatigue early on as well. Otherwise, it was a quiet beginning. I just kinda knew, with only minimal symptoms.
The reviews I read for the lotion I got were mostly very positive, with many saying it reduced the appearance of their scars, so I've been using it on the boobs in the hopes that I'll get lucky.. :P It's only actually two very small light marks, which is probably nothing compared to what my stomach will probably get, but if it helps, awesome! I'm sure the moisture and softness of the skin from the lotion certainly doesn't hurt.
Oh yeah, keeping your skin as moisturized as possible will never hurt during this lol I've had some friend say their lotion did nothing during their pregnancy but afterwards their skin "bounced back" to normal a lot easier and there were less visible marks where some people are left looking like their stomach was ripped open during the process because the untreated stretch marks almost scar the skin.
We took forever naming the kids
Boys are easier than girls. I was 36 weeks or something until we finally decided on a middle name for my daughter. It was far easier for my son.
Thomas Alexander and Amelia Eleanora We have a 4 letter 1 syllable last name, which gave us a really hard time with a middle name for Amelia. Nothing flowed right.

For me, I have to pee every 2 hours, sometimes more often. It feels like I'm full all of the time. Eating or drinking can be painful because there's just not a lot of room! I also get incredibly dizzy and faint if I don't eat often. I didn't expect that so it happened a couple of times in the first trimester, but I'm better prepared now. I'm tired a lot, and my motivation is zero most of the time. I get back pain seemingly at random and heartburn is almost a daily occurrence now. He's just now big enough for me to actually feel him move. It's strange. I thought it was a muscle spasm at first, but I noticed it in many different locations. Emotionally, it feels incredible! I'm so very excited to be having a baby with my husband. Overall, I think I've had an easier pregnancy than most so far, but it definitely takes a lot of energy.
With my first I didn't have the opportunity to find out the sex before she was born (they are not allowed to tell us during routine ultrasounds where I live), but even before I took a test, I was only a few weeks in, and I was super exhausted and could smell EVERYTHING and just felt... off. Not bad or sick, just off. And since that day when it clicked in, I was like, "yep I'm pregnant, gonna take a test anyways, but yep. And, it's a girl." I just.. I KNEW she was a girl, I didn't hope she was or anything, it wasn't wishful thinking, I just knew. Which I found weird because I'd always strongly believed my first baby would be a boy lol
But I couldn't even bring myself to pick out a boys name, I was wish my ex at the time still and whenever we talked about names he'd only say boy ones and I'd basically be like "Yep whatever I don't care, pick whatever you like cause it's not a boy" lol XD I still bought mostly all unisex things though, just on the off chance my gut feeling was wrong, but sure enough she came and she was a girl lol I had her full name picked out before she was even born.
My second one I couldn't really tell gender. I didn't even know I was pregnant until I was about 6 months along, though my third trimester was really rough like it was trying to make up for it or something lol I got to find out gender this time though it was because I had to go to a children's hospital in the city because my blood work had flagged markers for down syndrome and I needed a specialist to check her out. Since it was a doctor doing it and not a ultrasound technician she could tell me everything as the test went which was awesome, and she happened to see the gender and asked if I wanted to know. Another little girl C: and thankfully the only abnormality she saw was a small calcium spot on her heart which she said was very normal and very common so I had nothing to worry about, the chance of her having down syndrome was like, 2% in the end or something like that. I picked out a name for her like I had with my first, which was Keira, and I loved it and her middle name so much for her, but when she was born and I held her for the first time, I was like no, that's not your a Keira, that's not your name, and I pulled a name out of my memory I'd read like, all of one time, and I said that's your name, that's the name that suits you, and it does very much. I kept the middle name though lol but sometimes they just have different plans then you do XP

Congrats! Having a little one is so much fun. My daughter is five now, and although I had a complicated pregnancy, I can't wait to have another one. Hope everything goes well, and let me know if you need someone to talk to. Sometimes its hard to find people on FA that have children, and its nice to be able to relate at times :)
Congrats!!! My little man just turned 1 a few months ago. He put a nice big slow down on art production (even now) but god he is worth it. My big advice is take in every second of him as a baby and cherish it, take lots of pictures and cuddle him every chance you get. They get independent way too quick. I loved holding my boy all the time now all he wants is for me to put him down so he can run around. X3 You blink and they're already walking.
I'm so happy for you <3 Welcome to the mommy club. <3

It probably sounds shitty to some, but I actually hope to raise the best kid of my generation of my family.. :P Every female in my family already has at least one kid and every single one of them is horribly behaved. They're mean little jerks with no manners and they don't understand the concept of "dont pick cats up my their legs/tails" or "dont touch anything when at someone elses house" and they're all old enough to know better. >:( I never want to be the person who brings their kid over and the kid hurts their pets or breaks something in their house or kicks them in the leg. I am going to do everything I can to ensure my child is as educated, well mannered, accepting/open minded (and happy! Not gonna be like a tiger mom either) as can be because I can't have a kid like my nieces and nephews. If my child grows up with hate in his heart or disrespect for anyone, it certainly wouldn't have been learned from me.
:nods: I'm happy to hear that; better raising of children is a strong interest of mine.
Just remember though, that kids are pretty smart, and they pay even more attention to your actions than they do to your words (and often why a lot of parents have problems with their kids because they've already modelled bad behaviour for the kids).
My favourite philosopher has a daughter who must be at least six by now, and he has never had any common problems about it, such as the "terrible twos".

I have pretty decent habits. At least as far as manners go. I don't trash talk people, even celebrities, or judge anyone for their appearance, orientation, etc. Hopefully I can fix my bad habits by then! I feel like between my husband and I, we're gonna have a great kid. Especially after watching what his sister has been doing with her one year old (who has been the best baby ever so far. I seriously don't think babies come any better than hers). Plus, I am addicted to researching anything and everything, so I'm confident that I'll be adding +1 decent human being to the population. UwU We shall see. Sometimes I wonder how much is really in our control.
If you'd like some more stuff for research, that philosopher has podcasted quite a bit about it, and has interviewed experts.

I hope you don't mind that the political theories are a bit alarming to most people, but his reasoning is usually pretty sound.

Yes, you think this is good, but wait till the baby bursts through your stomach and kills a bunch of miners on a space ship. I saw that in "What to Expect when you're expecting". ...at least I think that was the name of the movie, I really wasn't paying much attention.
