Do they have open range laws like Nevada? I know there's a lot of "you can shoot anywhere you want so long as it's not at anyone" rules out in the empty west.

Hell, I'm in WI and they told me I can shoot in backyards or farms so long as it's not penetrating or high caliber bullets.

You know, there are lots of places in this country where you can go that are wide open enough to where you can use guns without worry, but you don't have to worry about melting in the heat. My grandmother owns a little ranch in Rural Montana that is great for that kinda thing, for example.

He's a gun-toting, Icelandic maniac! I know, I was there! He brutally shot up harmless and defenseless pieces of discarded trash! Including, but not limited too, old cans, part of an old radiator, a broken RC car, and even a broken, busted up old XBox 360 (which is one of the best uses I've seen for one yet).

so what should i save up for? i was thinking of a nice .17 mag HMR rifle but im also looking at a nice 20 gauge. shot a hole in a quarter with a friends HMR at 20 yards barrel rested on his trucks tailgate. i liked it.

Depends on what gets your dick harder. A good 20 gauge is almost a universal weapon, good for hunting, sport and defense. But if long-range accuracy is your thing, then yes, a small-caliber rifle with a big-ass scope is the thing.

HAHA well for said situation, it would have to be the 20 gauge.not amazingly expensive...for the most part... still wish i had my m1897 really got ripped off for it. could have pulled 2 grand for it at a gun show. instead i orphaned it for 350.im sure they turned around and sold it for its deserved price. also had an old pardner single shot 12Ga. beat the hell out of my shoulder. half of the shooting day i hipped it.

Fun in the sun! For long range shooting with good barrel life and affordable component costs, the .270 Winchester is hard to beat because bullets with really good ballistic coefficients are available.
