Oh man
I've been sick since last Wednesday, and so doing any kind of work has been hard, but working on this baby has been a treat (it just took extra long because I'd have to collapse for a while after, haha)
This is a character design commission for
421 who wanted an autumnal themed wild dog character, with a few of the tabby-esque stripes I usually put into my calico designs thrown in.
It was remarkably difficult to get the balance between intricate and not overly complex here, so I really, really hope I've pulled it off! The markings around her thighs and neck are supposed to look like beads or necklaces, but I don't necessarily think they need to stick rigidly to the splotches and spots - that'll be up to her new owner though! :3

She looks absolutely brilliant! I can understand where you are worried about it being too complex, but I think this looks great! Since in the end most of the markings are on the upper arms, thighs, and lower back, I think that helps with her not being too complicated. Also the mirroring of some of the markings helps with that as well (such as the lower arms and lower legs sharing a similar pattern overall).
I am completely in love with those stripes on her arms and legs! The transition from a red/brown base to a cream base that you did with them reminds me of one of my favorite animals, the okapi. I also really love her full hair with a few braids and beads in it. It adds a nice visual interest without being too overwhelming.

I am completely in love with those stripes on her arms and legs! The transition from a red/brown base to a cream base that you did with them reminds me of one of my favorite animals, the okapi.
