Hi there! I'm Emily- an artist by night, minimum wage worker and volunteer by day.

[[But Emily, what does your volunteer work have to do with anything?]]
Good question imaginary inquirer! I do a specific kind of volunteer work- photography. I document community and private events for FREE with my handy dandy Sony Alpha DSLR-A200. This has ranged from award ceremonies, weddings, music events, Cadets training and trips, and much more!

[[Okay, that's cool, but what do you need help with?]]
See, while my magnificent camera and I take hella rad pictures of even more hella rad happenings, it's all completely pointless if I can't get the pictures from my camera onto my computer/flash drive and inevitably to the person who I was taking said pictures for. This means I need a USB cable to go with my camera.

A cable that I lost.

[[That sucks. Can't you just buy a new one?]]
Why yes. Yes, I can. Except I'm completely broke and saving up for college, which means I don't have the funds to buy the cable I need at the moment. And I really need that cable ASAP.

I'm going to be documenting the Comox Valley I Belong! Campaign tomorrow, October 4th! There's even going to be an Olympic athlete there and I am so, so excited to get to be a part of this and to have my photos published alongside articles to help bring awareness to this amazing group.

[[What's the I Belong! Campaign about?]]
I Belong! is part of a support community for adults with (and without) developmental disabilities called L'Arche. People who have grown up with mental and physical disabilities have opportunities in their communities and schools to have the support and guidance they may need, but what happens when they become adults and there's no longer readily available assistance for them?

This campaign has one goal: to provide homes and care for the people that have no one to help them and no where to go. In order to do this, they need to raise A LOT of money to be able to provide roofs over heads, caretakers for the helpless, and community for the people who are all too often cast out of the general social public just because they're different.

[[Oh man, that's amazing! How can I help?]]
Well, the best thing you can do to help directly is to go donate at http://larchecomoxvalley.org/paypal-donation/ and help them reach their goal! How you can help me help them is like this:

~I'm selling $2 Halloween themed icons like the one above in order to earn the money I need to buy my USB cable.

Without that cable, I won't be able to give them the photos and all that work on my part will be for nothing- not to mention they won't get the best publicity possible in local and provincial news.

All I need is to earn $14CAD in order to buy the cable off Amazon. If seven people buy, I can do it, easy enough right?

Any and all extra money earned from this will be immediately donated to the I Belong! Campaign. For every $10 surplus donated, I'll upload a freebie icon like the cute vampire above for anyone to use.
