He is finally mounted, after about 9 months of waiting for him, he's ready. And dear god he's so beautiful. I am very happy with how he turned out, mounted by a professional taxidermist somewhat locally. This beautiful black bear was purchased as a tanned skin, and then later commissioned by a professional to mount it for my anatomy studies and natural history collection. I have named him Boogie Bear, and I feel so at peace gazing into his calm relaxed face and sweet little eyes. Anyone who knows me, knows my connection with bears. (

Please note: NO we did not kill this bear, it was not killed for us. We recieved the skin second hand and a beautiful work of art was created from it. We understand that not everyone likes this hobby nor likes looking at it, but please keep any rude comments to yourselves. We share our collections for educational purposes as well as references for artists to learn from.

He is GORGEOUSLY done!! I don't know how many bears I've seen that have had nice pelts but botched mounts or the nice mounts have the rough pelts that look like they have mange.
This makes me very excited to get my whitetail buck (I harvested him myself last year. . . and before haters hate. . I am not a 'trophy' hunter, I hunt for meat and to provide for my family with hunting tags provided by my Tribe) mount back from my taxidermist. . .sadly I have another year to wait because of how booked the guy is. . .I've already been waiting a year. However I'm sure when hes done it will be WELL worth the wait. I brought him to Great Lakes Taxidermy and he will be attached with a cedar scenery!

Thank you so very much! And I agree completely! Though I have seen some absolutely stunningly done LS black bears, there's even more that are just poorly done/in poor shape.
We are completely pro-hunting as it's a very necessary thing in most cases. My father hunts to feed us, we eat venison and it's absolutely delicious. Far better for you then any meat bought in the grocery store, simple as that. I have the skull, legs, and skin of the very deer he took this past season, nothing goes to waste. :) It's painful to have to wait isn't it?

Venison is amazing, and especially with the rising costs of beef, just your typical burger for us is a treat with our income. I have a few skulls and I want to figure out how to do the skins. I had a Native Elder that was going to teach me the brain tanning and pulling method, but he has been having problems with his health and has been unable to do so :(
