For awhile I myself didn't see the pro's of photobashing until I watched some of John Sweeney's tutorials(guy who did the Concept art for the last of us). Now i use it a lot for classes that need lots of detail in short amounts of time

Forgive my näiveness, that name was a really important keyword for my reseach for my coming up assignments, I can't thank less for sharing with me!
Personally I was given the task to do photorealistic design suggestions, so photo bash bash bash (:D) comes into mind as my school practices inhuman workload and deadline system (which kind of make sense as far as I can understand lately)

Yep, Same here with my college. But at least its drawing, sculpting and all that.

Some find it lame that he barely paints and just use photo's but the fact that he gets JUST PHOTO's to work so well is just astounding to me. So many good techniques that work so well. If you havent bought anything from him I'd say for the price I fully recommend it!

As for the discrimination of photo bashing, I think there is nothing wrong about the technique. It all depends on the situation(like time and clients' demands) and task though, of which I will link it towards philosophical issues. As long as the task and motive themselves are ethical and proper(from my personal point of view, which would try to obtain as many of other perceptions as I possibly can), I think the technique would be fine by itself, nothing lame. :P
