the Passion flower has interesting history: see the three main purple looking things in the middle well people who originally were looking at the plant thought they looked like the three spikes used to nail Jesus Christ to the Cross and the little things around the outside looked like a crown of thorns and the colours too!

it has a religious background but the fruit tastes delicious passion fruit however they are very expensive :3

I'm not sure if that was the reason, but I'm pretty sure the idea of mimikry and similar "mysterious interactions in nature must have been wellknown to watchers of things long before we fell into the superstition of christianity.
