For so long, I thought I was a good colorist. While I think I have a pretty decent grasp on anatomy, I have fallen behind on evolving my coloring.
I've actually tried my hand at lineless color art, but I abandoned it. I realized I wasn't doing a great job on them.

Over the years, I know I've gotten better and my understanding of art, coloring and anatomy has improved. So... I want to try it again, as I think I can make a much better product than in the past.
The one thing I'm asking you guys is when you favorite pictures on this site, look at the fur, how is it shaded/colored?
I'm afraid I'm going to go overboard trying to make the fur too detailed and "realistic". Which is going to take away from the pic as it wouldn't match my style.
Any ideas?
I'm posting this to give you an idea what I'm leaning toward. That scythe has no line art, that's color directly over the sketch.
