It was a warm summer night, I decided to camp out in the woods to see some cute little animals. It was dark and the fire had just gone out. I was about to go into my tent and sleep but suddenly i caught this scent and i suddenly had more energy so I went walking. I passed by a few trees and saw a cute little skunk. She was small and had a nice and bushy tail. When she saw me she ran off and I had the greatest urge to follow her, despite the skunk scent. She went somewhere not very far but it was behind a few trees and by a cave. I was confused as to where she was leading me, because it seemed like she actually wanted me to follow her. When she stopped she turned around and looked directly at me.
"Um hi, this is kinda awkward but I have this feeling that you wanted me to follow you and now I'm guessing you didn't and I just now realized you can't even understand what I'm saying so I'll just be on my..." I said until I was interrupted.
"Oh she can hear you just fine, and she knows exactly what you're saying, and hi there," another skunk said as he walked up behind her with others following.
"Well what's going on and who are you all anyway?" I asked in confusion because I'm having a conversation with skunks.
The same skunk responded, "We are the Clan of the Stinky Tails, we are all one big family of freed souls and minds."
"I honestly pity you greatly for you are living in a false happiness." the girl one said.
"Um yea, I'm gonna need a little more..."
"We have no false loyalties or evil tyrants, we are free to be ourselves, perhaps you could join us and learn the truth?" she continued.
"Okay that just raises further questions, and I'm kinda creeped out so I'm gonna head out and..." I said as I tried to walk away.
"Oh you're not going anywhere..." one skunk said as he crawled out from a bush.
"Um I really think I should be..."
"Clan... 'Tails Up...'" he said, to my slight fear.
Once he said tails up, all the skunks seemed to stand in attention, and when I saw their faces I saw that they were completely expressionless and their eyes were spinning, they were all entranced.
"Um ok what was that?" I asked confused and kinda scared.
"You live in a corrupt world, you have political leaders, legal systems, capital punishment, pledges of allegiance, military, all of that is a lie." the skunk responded seriously and humorlessly.
"Yea so?"
"This is not the natural order of the world, nature never intended a world of laws formed by other people who don't directly think about you and never want to face up to their mistakes," he continued.
"Well the world is screwed but what are we going to do, it's not like we can fight the system," I said very faintly agreeing with him.
"This is not how the world should have been, everyone of these skunks has been where you are, brainwashed by the system, forced to believe a false sense of comfort by thinking the government cares for them, well no more."
"But how, another sad fact is that animals aren't very respected."
"Oh you will see, but first I must ask you if you think the system works?" he asked.
"Well it has problems but without it we will all die."
"Just as I suspected, what else?"
"We need military and nuclear weapons to protect from invaders."
"So you prepare for battle but say you never want it to happen with others...?"
"And not believing in these things shuts you out of society, we get ignored, insulted, and maybe even arrested."
"My point exactly, you are punished for your beliefs and even worse is you are punished for knowing the truth, and without leadership there would be no funding or knowledge for those weapons you fear, and the attackers you fear are all lead by a government as well, but I can tell you don't support this so you must join us." he exclaimed, to my fear.
"Um I don't really think that will work, besides I'm not even a skunk, I wish I was but I'm not, so I don't really fit in with your cult..." I said hesitantly.
The skunk turned around and held his tail up, and when I looked around noticed the others held their tails up too, I didn't know what was going to happen, except that my life was going to stink even worse... They all sprayed me, the smell was unbearable and somewhat calming. After they all stopped spraying me, I lost balance and fell over, I couldn't stand on two feet anymore, and I noticed things started to look bigger, but then I noticed I was shrinking. I then felt something all over my body, it felt soft and fuzzy, I was growing fur, black and white skunk fur! I felt something come out from my back, it was my new tail, my cute, soft, fuzzy, smelly skunk tail! Finally, I noticed my ears reshape and I grew a muzzle, I could't deny it, I was a skunk! I was a cute, smelly little skunk, and I was so nervous, I literally didn't know what to do. I tried to walk away, I just wanted to get help and hide but I stopped when I heard him say, "Tail Up..." Out of nowhere I lost all of my sense of normality. I stood on all fours in attention and the other skunks noticed my eyes began to spin.
"Now you can understand the truth, you no longer need establishment, you know chaos is the true order." the head skunk said.
"No, this isn't the... you're right, we don't need any... NO, I gotta fight the..." I said, falling for their ploy.
"Don't fight it, this is the truth, you won't believe this false hope, you only need the Clan of the Stinky Tails..." all the skunks said in unison.
"No, no it's... it's true..." I finally said, I was one of them, "I don't need a ruler, one's true loyalty should be to himself, and those he loves," I began to say with a slower tone,
"Congrats, not only do you know the truth of anarchy, the truth of chaos, you are also part of the Clan of the Stinky Tails." the head skunk said with the same seriousness and lack of humor.
"From now on I only live to stay with the Clan of the Stinky Tails, not to a country, not to a flag, not to a government, not to anyone but myself and those I love..."
"Congratulations sir, let's all head home and show you your new home."
As we walked off I realized that I really was in a false paradise, they were right, anarchy is the answer. Now that I am a skunk of the Clan of the Stinky Tails, I am now truly happy with my fellow freed skunk brethren.
