There's actually an in-universe hero or two whom she has that problem with. One of them just has a chip in his head that resets his brain to its "last good configuration" when stuff like that happens, but the other one is a demonically possessed little girl who gets triggered into a violent ball of unholy terror and death when directly exposed to hypnotic signals.
