Ironically, though this was doodled as an after-thought in the margins of a paper I was using to take notes on during math class a year or so back, its significance couldn't be any higher to my hopefully soon to be finished story arch.
After a year of taking part in some of the worst fighting imaginable, during in which like 5 and a half BILLION people died in the very first week of fighting alone, and another several billion people died during the course of the rest of the fighting, the war has been far more destructive than anyone could possibly imagine. Worse yet still, for all the bloodshed and loss, Zeon is faring very badly at this late stage in the war, and is trying frantically to keep from losing to the Federation.
It's the eve of what is predicted to be one of the most (if not THE most) decisive battles to determine whether or not the Principality of Zeon will even survive (let alone win the war), and it's safe to say at this point Renamon is understandably suffering severe emotional trauma over the things she's seen and done.... To the point that, while contemplating the extreme, she hears a knock at the door and, in her grief-roasted mental state, she answers the door in such a haze she forget's she's not wearing pants -- no big deal for a Digimon since they don't even WEAR clothes, but BIG f***ing deal when it turns out the person at the door is your new commanding officer, come to get first impressions of all his newly transferred replacements. Crap.
FWIW, the new CO is actually not a jerk or an idiot -- which is to say he was the first nice one in a long line of CO's that WEREN'T. The finale draws near, and in the words of the old episode recaps from the 0079 anime say, "Who Will Survive?"
(On a minor note: Yes, I was also trying to see what drawing Renamon tastefully provocative would look like, and I have to say it's one of the few pieces I've ever done that I actually liked. :U)
