STAGE 1:
-fairly normal, with small flecks of crystal growing underneath his eyes, on his arms, legs and abdomen
-nervous system and organs still in tact, but he begins to feel the effects of the virus very early on still, such as appetite slowly shifting
STAGE 2:
-hair slowly loses pigment but still a light brown
-crystals have begun to affect his vision in his right eye, still has an actual eye though where crystals are beginning to form and flowing out from the eyesocket
-holes begin showing as the virus eats its way through giann's abdomen where more crystals begin to grow
STAGE 3: CURRENT STAGE
-hair loses further pigment, becomes a light pale pink
-right eye is completely gone, crystals around it have grown and skin has begun to deteroriate on the far right side of his face, showing what is truly growing underneath the skin cells as a result of the virus
-crystals further grow down his arms and start forming at his hips and shoulders more visibly in clumps
-weight loss clearly visible, no longer eating regularly
-organs affected

-left eye is affected as was the right one, slowly losing vision as crystals grow out of it
-more crystals form on his body
-the skin has deteriorated around his arms, legs and chest

-completely blinded, no longer has eyes
-more holes have opened in the body, and more crystals have grown until they completely cover his body
-no longer eats, body doesn't need food to sustain itself
-nervous system nonexistent as the virus has turned him into stone and crystal completely, no longer considered alive

pretty much!! im still kind of uh trying to work out the logic part of it but the idea is that the virus attacks cells and forces a type of stone wall around each cell that deteriorates said cell eventually- it's a slow and definitely painful process until the cells are actually completely affected, otherwise its only some parts of it being affected which still leaves him mostly human in that case!
the erosion of the cells is what affects his skin and slowly replaces with the stone, this happens within and outside of his body, so you can only imagine how his organs and everything are being affected! eventually leading to death tho..

Hmm. Do you think it would work along the same type of lines as calcification? Like as the virus goes through the body, it destroys and replaces the cells, but with more of a mutation effect. Buildups of calcium and other minerals could make it blister out and fracture unevenly. Makes sense to me that the nervous system would be effected, its so sensitive of a system.
yeah definitely! that sounds pretty on point on how it works in my mind really :'D the stone is the first layer that starts internally, thus the crystals are showing up in stage 2 and he's already decently hollow inside because the stone is working fast with the nervous system and insides and crystals are like the 2nd part fo the viruses outbreak! his appearance is affected lastly, so that's why he feels these effects early on and his weight loss starts super early also, he just has no reason to eat when his body isn't asking for nourishment, because his stomach is likely already effected..
i imagine his heart and brain are the last things to go, thus resulting in death, and he'd already be suffering respiratory and other problems by the time he gets to stage 4..

I can only imagine. With such a condition, serious symptoms would be showing up really quickly. Would be one hell of a thing to exist. It would make a good virus to be featured in a scifi book or something. Add in some beginning stages symptoms that are innocuous and you've got a good recipe for nationwide panic kind of virus. I wouldn't expect the lack of need for nourishment, I would almost figure that the virus would call for more minerals in the like to fuel the virus, but then again if it's more of a nuclear transition or something, that would be one heck of an energy output from the virus.
haha ikr =w= well inside the cell is a protective barrier where the virus will continuously breed to further infect the host i suppose? it was already predetermined in my mind to be a pretty chaotic one 8'D mostly because it is a side effect of magic and in the plot magic isnt normally practiced, but even worse for giann who was susceptible to it through magic. most magic users arent sickly but giann already was, and im sure other things contributed to the virus aside from just exposure to magic, though it is a large amount of exposure to affect him as badly as he has been

I smell a plot forming! lol A cell in the protective or hibernation stage would be just perfect for that. Magic plus viruses is going to lead to a bad time. They are going to need all of the help that they can get. All the time in nature we see some harmless form of a virus that suddenly is exposed to things and then BOOM! an awful, nasty, deadly virus out of nowhere.
It can be fun to have logical process for fantasy ideas, I saw someone do a logical explanation of what the actual skeletal structure for a centaur would have to be, and how large and such their nostrils would need to be in order to provide enough oxygen, especially while running, to facilitate their bodies. IT was all very interesting, and so is this!
I hope to see more about this character, I find the idea of becoming almost a crystal golem to be very cool. I also like that you can see that he is suffering and that the change is not some magical, painless sort of thing. Much more realistic.

oh definitely! :'D i love taking ideas to the next level and i favor realism, and the whole theme with giann is how it turns him reclusive and unhappy with himself to the point of asking for death by the time he gets around stage 4 because he knows it's not going to end well, but mephisto finds a cure eventually bc he's a scientist kind of wizard- still workin on this part laff but he does get cured in the end even though giann has many doubts

See, I love this sort of character depth! It is so nice. Too many people just make cute little fuck toy characters with the same little subserviant personalities that it is hella refreshing to see well thought out characters that feel something other than horny..... lol
How will his skin and orgsns manage to heal from the damage of the crystals?? Will it be a long, painful, recovery process of the cells trying to repair the damage? Or will the magical aid be able to quicken his hesling and lessen his suffering? I can only imagine what essentially regrowing your skin and organs would be like.

oh i feel that so much lmao like? i very rarely see any good character depth/development on fa tbh... everything just all about sex.. even on da it's just HERE'S A CUTE THING with a mary sue personality FF

i mean, there's probably going to be some permanent damage? like i doubt the crystals would completely go away and he'd look normal but it would basically stop the cells and the virus from spreading inside of him more. the virus has an incubation period where it multiples and distributes with a heavy output, so i figure the only way to solve it would to be stop that from happening, to kill the offspring of the virus, and to force it into being non active, though of course still lingering within him, i doubt he's ever fully cured! this would probs have to do with adjusting the membrane and such of the cells itself, so something to combat it would be needed
but his skin may grow back with the right cells fighting against the virus, and he may regain the use of his organs and such again, but this would probably take a very long time for the organs and everything to work properly again! i mean, the cure will involve the use of magic, so maybe trying to cancel it out with another dose of it, only it attacks itself? :'D it's a fun concept to think about for sure!

spooky to an interesting degree, reminds me a bit of an old dream i had where i turned slowly into 'living' ruby after accidentally breaking a glowing ruby and it got stuck in my hand ._. Woke up crying thinking i was turning into rocks and that people where gunna hit me for it.
