Because even though it's a killing machine with some gattling cannon whatever thing that comes out of his mouth, it's still an animal of the wild and has desires accordingly.

Like actually eating things that it kills and putting parts of itself into other things that are close to it's own shape during certain times during the year and emitting noises towards the nearest natural satellite when it so happens to be illuminated.
