So, today is my 34th birthday! It's been a wonderful one so far! I know I say this a lot but I have an awesome man! Yesterday he took me to visit my dad who is in the hospital (recovering now thankfully-was very ill with pneumonia and kidney issues), then we went out to my favorite Sushi place in Concord NH, Moritomo!!!!! He drove all over with me yesterday ^_^ Our plan this morning was to go out and find some organic bacon and I was going to make us breakfast. WOOT! I told him he didn't have to do anything more because he already did enough! (I never asked for anything, he just likes doing things for and with me <3)
As we pulled out of the driveway he said "now we have to go 2 miles that way first" pointing west, I raised an eye brow, "but Market Basket is that way" pointing east but knew he was up to something. Then it clicked, he was taking me to our favorite breakfast place near by The Twisted Fork, an amazing place that has been visited twice by the Phantom Gourmet! We had a nice quiet meal together, then went out to pick up a few things then went home.
After we got home we baked a cake together, rainbow yellow cake, my 2nd favorite cake everz! My mom used to make it for me as a kid, then my friend Kat and I would vocationally make it. I can be straight and like rainbow dammit!!! Tom has shown me this :) We separate the frosting into 6 and colored them and made them each a different flavor, as is tradition ;)
So here it is! My birthday cake yippy!!!!! Should you like the recipe it's really simple! Just go into a Betty Crocker cook book, find the Star Light Yellow Cake recipe, then find the OLDER recipe for a simple white frosting (3 cups powdered sugar, real butter 1 and 1/2 stick, 1tsp vanilla extract, and 2-3 table spoons of milk) Add your food coloring and flavors (strawberry, orange, lemon, mint, raspberry, and either coconut or almond which ever you prefer)

You went to Moritomos? You lucky devil. I miss that place as well Arnies ice cream on Loudon Road. The next time you go there ask for the Cherry (I forgot the spelling of her name) It is seaweed wrapped around rice and caramelized gourd with avocado and cream cheese. It makes a great desert treat and keeps well the following day.
