I occasionally look for random furry related stuff on eBay. One day I was looking at Garfield stuff and I saw this christmas tree ornament and I thought to myself, this would make a perfect hood ornament. With a little modification, it did ^^
Modifications made
Took skis off and drilled holes through each paw so I could attach the skis securely with wood screws.
(note. the plastic is brittle, so turn the screw 1/2 turn, then back it out and drill out the excess. repeat that until Garfield is threaded)
While the skis were off, I clamped them in a vice and drilled bolt holes for mounting the ornament to my hood.
(note. use a very sharp bit and go very slowly)
The ornament was originally assembled using 4 plastic pieces so I glued every joint for strength. Used super glue, which was a mistake since it doesn't dry clear. It also leaves holes in the glue if you put it on thick like I did around the arms. I mostly fixed it using a dremmel tool to open up the holes, and re-fill them with glue. Then dremmel and small, angled razor blades for model making, to smooth it out and remove as much excess as possible.
Lastly, I assembled it and sprayed it with many layers of clear for protection from the sun and bugs.
