This sounds a lot like some of The Boards of Canada's earlier tracks without sounding anything like them. That's quite an accomplishment, actually.
I'm not sure if I would call it chemistry though... The heartbeat style base and descending loops makes me think of falling into some kind of relatively friendly cthonic deathpit.
