I don't think depression can be cured, not all of it is chemical imbalances, often times it's caused by just living life. Myself, I have a bit of a "run away" mind, a random thought will enter my head and sometimes it can just throw me completely out of whack, especially if I've got nothing else to really concentrate on.
Sometimes talking it out with a close friend of mine is the best medicine in the world, sometimes it makes it worse. Regardless, his friendship has been a blessing, but I've come to learn to take something from these moments; good or bad, if I can. And going back to your image, yeah, the vast majority of my problems are self inflicted and that often fans the flames of self-hatred as well.

Been having real trouble sleeping lately b/c of "that feel". And I'm not the type of person who usually has it.
And there's so much truth in the second part of this that I didn't even think about. Trying to find a significant other or
lots of "new friends" whilst in that prison of one's own making, is probably just setting ourselves up for failure, isn't it?

nods yea. Knowing how to work with some one with the condition is key specially if you know the triggers to help change something. for me what's helped the most is recognizing when one is coming and inserting pauses in my mind set. If I can catch it soon enough then I can help manage it. Some times I do well some times not.
Its also hard to find those who really have it or those who use it for attention. many develop a mind set when they realize that they can get people to pay attention to them but its very dangerous because it can eventually lead to real depression as well.
