The first page completed (I think?) for the drawing for comics class I'm taking. A lot of people were confused by the sketches of this in my scraps as to what was going on, but hopefully this clears things up with some color and detail. I think I learned a valuable lesson about what pains I can experience working in CMYK rather than RGB, particularly for layers using one of the contrast blending modes. Annoying!
In case anyone is wondering, this was painted in Photoshop using a few sets of brushes I bought from Kyle T Webster. I'll list the two packs here.

I'll try and post the rest of the pages as I complete them.

you'd be surpirised. My chihuahua weighs 11lbs and sometimes breaks through the ice in frozen puddles and ditches. That and this fennec is anthro so what extra weight she has is centered on two paws not four.
Don't get me wrong, my little dog 9 times out of 10 can walk right over ice and even snow with no problem. If this is the case for these fennec children then I can understand why she ran out on the ice like she did, 90% of the time the ice wouldn't react to such a light figure.

Oh wow, the detail is amazing. The expressions is just way too awesome particularly the last one. You don't usually see something like that often, but the other thing that is awesome about this is the backgrounds and the story in this. The background blends so well with the rest of the comic, it's lovely!
Yeah, exactly. Half the stuff you're used to using isn't available! Having said that though, I've had a lot of difficulties with reds and purples when going from RGB to CMYK for colour correction. It can be a tricky job with masking wizardry to make the transition not be stripey and ugly sometimes... So I guess there's a benefit to working with it from the start.
I would have worked in RGB for the coloring, only switching to CMYK at the very end. Then, proofing the image and maybe applying a few fixes.
I'm very interested about why you worked in CMYK from the start, considering this choice makes working with blending modes so much harder.
Doe doing so bring a significant advantage somewhere ?
Thanks !
Oh, and I'm really glad you're finishing this. The skteches were great, and the story very emotionnal. Thank you for this touching piece of art !

This was mostly to keep my blacks (inks, panel bounds, lettering) in K to practice for actual print comics I plan to work on. I realized that a better solution is just to work in RGB and separate what layers need to be black, and do channel separation at the very end. But it has been a great learning experience in that regard!
I'd say I improved most at planning out panels, consolidating ideas to make the panels concise and convey a clear idea. In the process I also learned a lot just from being forced to work on content that I normally don't. I'm so used to doing smut for smut's sake that I don't challenge myself to make art that reads well and looks good.
I realize this might be a little off-topic to the story, but....
DOG DAMN those are some sexy looking legs! Am I the only one seeing these legs? And that loin cloth just amplifies matters. The guy in the 1st frame nearly turned me gay with all that leg and rear :-P
Sorry.... I think you accidentally pushed my happy buttons.

Let me just say that there isn't enough of this sort of casual sexiness on FA. Sometimes it's a really nice change of pace for it not to seem so deliberate.(showing off)
Additionally, it's fun to have a story as a part of the package. You do it quite well, and personally, I'm hoping there will be more.

Nice! This reminds me of the books I read back in elementary school, the style and colors are all just so vivid and dreamlike in a way. :) If this was a graphic novel, I would by it without a doubt, just saying. ;)
Still, I can't help but worry for that fox girl. :( I hope he gets to her in time.
