I honestly need to start easing back on the badass factor of the Cadance in my head before I completely break her character.
Though I sincerely doubt, with the threats they have in their world, that Celestia would have given Cadance the Crystal Empire if she had zero ability to protect its power or fight for what she loves. Just because someone is against fighting doesn’t mean they can’t. She may not be the warrior hero, but neither is she the classic damsel in distress.
At least, that’s the idea I’m going off of in my story, which is pretty much anything but sunshine and rainbows. Hints here and there, but, yeah… Dark, but thankfully not a tragedy.
I love pony armor. Pony armor is fun.

Remember the episodes where it was introduced? Y'know, her keeping Sombra out, despite his best efforts, for days unceasing?
In a darker Equestria, she would definitely rise to the occasion. She might not have the... heart... for it, but she would have the ability and training.

Oh, I didn't mean to imply I doubted that she actually COULD protect it. I agree whole-heartedly with you!
I just meant I was a bit worried that the way I was picturing her was so completely beyond her scope as a character that it wouldn't even be Cadance I was writing about anymore, but a pony that happened to have the same name and appearance. More alternate universe territory rather than within the boundries of what she could do in the show (if the show went a darker route). :)
