It had been six months since the Yar'Zanti utterly conquered earth. A huge portion of the world's still living human population were now slaves to the aliens. Brad Miller was one of them. Through his bondage he got close to the aliens and learned a little more about them. Yet on one job he had a fateful encounter and learned a lot more.
This part allowed me to disclose more about the Yar'Zanti. As soon as I was done writing the last story I immediately began this one on the same day.

An interesting chapter. You kind of confirmed what you hinted at in the first chapter.
But this does lead to an interesting tactical question. Do those who have been re-born retain enough knowledge, that they can easily recall information such as the locations of bases, troop concentrations ect that they can use that information against the humans?

Yes, they remember just about everything they knew as a human. So essentially they can and did use that knowledge against the humans. Plus becoming a Yar'Zanti causes their loyalty to shift and afterword they would have no compunctions to telling their new friends all they know. (Also the Yar'Zanti have technology that can scan a person's memories as well even before they say anything.)
But this also leads me to another series of questions.
1. If being a Yar'Zanti is so awesome and she loves it so much now, why doesn't she want him to just hurry up and be re-born?
2. Why do the Yar'Zanti use slave labor? Wouldn't it make sense just to convert the native population into a loyal and evidently much more physically capable form.
3. Why do the Yar'Zanti need to use another species to reproduce?
4. How long after death is the "volunteer's" body viable for gestation? Because I'm wondering when they took his brother. After all he was buried.
5. Why is the gestation time longer for juveniles? Do they have to be brought to the equivalent of an adult stage to be "re-born".
6. Is it common for the re-born Yar'Zanti, to secretly track down their former family members and keep and eye on them, like his re-born wife.

I'll try to answer them as best as I can, but please know I can't without giving away some plot points.
1) In a way she was wishing him to not do something rash and kill himself/die quickly. Yet the Yar'Zanti in her causes her to use the term reborn instead.
2) The Yar'Zanti have a prohibition against outright murdering other sentients. Death in war, being killed disobeying orders, or trying to escape and being killed is just fine. Yet just randomly killing them is forbidden. Plus command still sees some use in them beside gestating their bodies into Yar'Zanti.
3) Can't answer without giving away a plot point.
4) A body is viable for Yar'Zanti rebirth within two weeks of death.
5) Yes first they have to be grown to adults before being changed into Yar'Zanti. The younger the child the longer this takes.
6) Normally no. Yet with the sudden influx of new Yar'Zanti, plus the conquest of earth, the temptation is there for the Yar'Zanti to seek out their old human relatives. There's currently no rules against it unless someone orders them not too. It depends on the individual Yar'Zanti and how much they want to remember their past human lives. Some do go off the deep end and prefer to barely associate with their past lives. Most use the anonymity of their armor to quietly search while not alluding to who they are or were.
