Owing his allegiance to neither the Horde nor the Alliance, Jhiao is a venerable old Pandaren. His fur is grey from age and his face wrinkled--a sign of a lifetimes worth of experience and knowledge. From the looks of the pair of scars over his right eye, he has also seen many conflicts.
His baggy eyes are soft and welcoming, but his scarred eye is milky white from partial blindness. However, it subtly glows with a luminescent turquoise--a possible betrayal of hidden power within the old Pandaren.
His face is usually hidden under a reliable old straw hat.
Judging by the rest of his apparel, Jhiao looks to be a Pandaren of simple pleasures. He wears slightly tattered overalls, reinforced by hand-crafted hardened leather. His arms and torso are wrapped in shabby fighting tape and pair of farmer's gloves serve as further makeshift protection for his hands. A pair of hand-stitched leather pants don his legs and keeping them up against his waist is a hand-crafted rope belt bearing the insignia of his family line--the Fengs.
He is often seen using a walking staff, decorated with jade beads, golden bangles and rich, crimson wrappings. A jug of his family's ale dangles from the tip by a red rope.
He is usually seen helping Matron Shellene look after the children in the Stormwind orphanage on a weekly basis. He has become a recent favourite visitor among the children as a surrogate father figure.

Jhiao lived most of his life in Pandaria amidst the verdant fields of the Valley of the Four Winds. He was a farmer of Stoneplow Village for much of his days and also ran a small family brewery with his wife, Shen, and their daughter, Fei. Throughout the Valley, the Feng family became renowned for the refreshing taste sensation of their Silverleaf Tea and Ale.
Jhiao also took a deeper interest in the wisdom given to the Pandaren people by Emperor Shaohao many thousands of years ago. In admiration of his teachings, Jhiao sought similar enlightenment through the Way of the Monk. By day he would run his family brewery and by night he would seek out training and wisdom from an old master in Paoquan Hollow.
In time, the student surpassed the master and Jhiao began to freely spread his new-found wisdom with the rest of Stoneplow Village. It was during this time that Jhiao's daughter, Fei, gave birth to Huanbai, making Jhiao and Fei proud grandparents. All was well and he finally knew peace.
However, the peace was soon disturbed. A couple of years later, the Mantid once again swarmed The Great Wall as they do each generation. Despite the Shado-Pan's best efforts, a scattered few Mantid made it past The Great Wall and into Stoneplow Village.
Jhiao attempted to fend them off with the help of others, but they ransacked the village killing men, women and children. Shortly after, members of the Shado-Pan found the rogue Mantid and defeated them, but it was too late. The Mantid had all ready taken the life of Fei and Shen.
Only his grandaughter, Huanbai, was left hidden away and protected in the basement of the ruined Feng Brewery. Jhiao took the small cub in as his own, vowing to protect her as she was the only family he had left.
Mourning the loss of his daughter and wife, Jhiao learned an important lesson. He remembered the words of the ancient pandaren Emperor and his conversation with the White Tiger.
“Why do you fight?” the White Tiger asked.
“For home. For family.” Shaohao replied. “For the people I protect. For them I would give my final breath. Thank you, White Tiger.”
