Everything about the controller from how it fits in your hands, to the spacing of the buttons and how smoothly you can transition between them and quickly they can be pressed was all so perfect on the PS1/PS2 controllers. At least the rear shoulder buttons are the only thing they changed.
Yeah. I don't even wanna imagine what the hell they were thinking... But then again, looking at how bad their new consoles turned out it shouldn't be a big surprise at all that they wanted to add that silver colored, banana-shaped boomerang to the mix...
Oh and yes, I should mention that I was a Play-station kid back in the day.....And I am proud of it! (Never really gotten into the Nintendo craze either. Its a rather unknown world to me).

I think they were jealous of the Xbox getting so much attention because of its shitty controller, and wanted in on the action.
I don't care so much about the company that makes the system as much as the games released on it, and the system's functionality. I judge them all based on the system themselves without any real regard for the company that makes them, except for the sake of first-party games but then again that comes more down to the games available for the system than the system itself.

And here we have on one side a money-thirsty company of sharks that helped to create all of the bad multyplayer gaming stereotypes with their crappy, old hardware console thats apparently overly loved, not to mention helping to destroy the company I once loved and supported along with my friends...
And on the other side that same company, now turned into a shallow and empty shell of what it once was so that it can try and desperately be up to match in a very pointless and money driven competition that has clearly forgotten that the clients and their entertainment should come into a first place. Not become a "secondary priority that doesnt even count anymore"....
Then, there is Nintendo.... Sony's "prodigy son"... Which also failed miserably while attempting to follow up the current standards of crap to please a brainless slice of the gaming market.
Yeah, I am sticking with PC's.
