At times the mind chatters away when sober thought is required. To settle the voices within, clarity is needed.

For clarity, one needs focus.

For focus, one must eliminate distractions.

Clinking armor and confining clothing are very distracting.

And so, in the vast empty hall, Jacob knelt nearly naked, trying to concentrate on the matter at hand.
