"Whisper, you awake?”
A wolf-like hybrid girl that appeared to be in her 20s, called out from the side of the pool, fighting the urge to jump into the water as it sparkled against the afternoon sun. Although the pool looked inviting, Amelia wanted to swim at the beach instead as she enjoyed the feel of the cool, salty water against her skin. But right now, she was growing impatient as her friend and the reason she was at the beach in the first place, was being lazy and refused to move. Amelia was bored and wanted some company. She had thought bringing her friend with her to the beach would be a good chance for the two of them to hang out and do something other than their usual routine of training, studying new fighting and weapon techniques, and assassinating worthless men on a day to day basis.
Whisper just laid there, minus the occasional idle twitching of her tufted ears, as she splayed her body out in the rubber inner tube. Whisper had finally gotten some time off and was determined to get some rest. Not that she didn’t love dealing out justice and vengeance in her own special way, but unfortunately it was starting to take its toll on her mind and body. Trying to look indifferent, Whisper swiveled the inner tube to face Amelia; her friend that kept her smiling even on the darkest days, and made sure she didn’t go on endless vigilante killing sprees...not to mention provided her with a plethora of alibis as need be. “Hmm...?”
Laughing at Whisper’s expression, Amelia dipped one of her feet in the pool and kicked some water in Whisper’s direction. “Nothing, just wanted to say hi! There are still a few men alive on the beach and your blades aren’t covered in blood; I wanted to make sure you were feeling okay.” She said with a coy smile, as if she was plotting something. “So…I was thinking, we are at the beach, it’s the perfect weather out- want to go and do something together? We can play volleyball, build sandcastles, grill up some food…” Whisper’s expression didn’t budge as she shook out her short, brownish-grey spotted fur and curled back up in the inner tube. “Nothing’s moving me from this spot until it’s time to go in for the day. Why don’t you head off to the beach and see if anyone looks guilty or can be used as target practice?” Whisper said in a nonchalant tone, though Amelia knew part of her was dead serious and would take the chance to strike someone that got on her bad side in a heartbeat.
Realizing the tired wolfcat was not going to move anytime soon, Amelia sighed to herself as she sat down a plate with a generous sized slice of carrot cake on the edge of the pool. She didn’t want to resort to this method but…“Oh, by the way lazybutt, I bought you some cake too. It’s…”
Before Amelia could finish the sentence, Whisper had floated over to the edge where the cake was and hungrily snatched it up. Amelia tried her best not to laugh at how quickly Whisper perked up over it as she began eating it. “Oh, I see how it is…You’ll move for cake but not me huh? So mean!” Amelia teasingly said, though she wasn’t about to let a piece of confectionery beat her as she ran off, a mischievous grin on her face…
Closing her eyes in pure bliss, Whisper muttered a thank you to Amelia. However, after a few seconds when Amelia didn’t reply back, Whisper realized she must have left- probably to find something else to busy herself with or was already heading towards the beach. Shrugging to herself, Whisper looked around the pool for her friend once more before turning her attention back to her treat.

Grabbing a bucket full of ice cold water, Amelia snuck back to where Whisper was and readied herself to attack; Whisper had her back turned to her and was finishing up the rest of her cake. Amelia knew there was a strong chance Whisper might chase after her, and an even stronger chance she might lose a limb or two but she figured there was more than one way to get a tired wolfcat up and moving…
Oh Amelia, hell haveth no fury like a wolfcat who can’t eat her cake in peace. I hope you can run…very, very fast. That and took the time to hide Whisper’s weapons from her.
And on that note, this commission will be the last time this year I use Whisper’s summer coat. Any other commissions after this point will be her pure white coat until Spring rolls back around. I wanted to end the summer on a special note with my two favorite girls, Whisper and Amelia, enjoying some relaxation and mischief (because if I can't have a proper vacation this year, at least my sonas should right?) I'm pretty sure Whisper wouldn't kill Amelia over a little water splashed on her and her cake...right?
...
Well, Amelia's a tough girl- she'll be okay. Anyway...special thanks to the artist and my buddy behind this awesomeness Cylnx. I had a great time watching him stream this from start to finish for me, not to mention all the work he put into the details; never disappoints with his work. Anyway, that's all the artwork I'm spamming fa with for a few days; me and Whisper both need a break- enjoy~
