Found this big-ass (for an European spider that is) beauty while at grandma's place, just strolling her fat ass through the garden, prolly looking for a place to hide or make her web in. Seemed pretty docile and slow (the pretty cold, humid weather prolly had some factor in that) so I decided to take some photos.
In total, she was about 3,5 cm long not counting her legs, which is pretty impressive for a spider like this.

Yeah, grandma's place was swarmed by the Cross spiders as well. Considering the fact that she has a huge chestnut tree in the middle of her yard and they love to make their webbings among the branches...you can imagine how often they tend to descend upon anyone unfortunate enough to sit under it :P
Well, pretty much ever spider has venom to kill their prey, but aside from a few examples, like the Black Widow who only lives in Australia, most spiders can kill a human with a bite (expect maybe you are allergic). Both the Cross spider and the Wasp spider can be found all over Europe and they are not dangerous to humans. So, no need to worry.
