I'd make some kind of reference to the mythology in Watership Down, but it's been waaaay too long since i read it.


I've oft wondered how resurrection spells affect social views of death. Of course the average farmer is unlikely to be raised (unless a ninth level Cleric just happens to be coming through that day), but nobles, wealthy merchants, and religious leaders would most likely be more frequently restored to life... hopefully before their successor is appointed.

Yeah, but being raised is EXPENSIVE. Even if the cleric is willing to do it for free (and what self-respecting cleric would?) The material components can break the bank.

Hence the comments on wealthy merchants, nobles, and religious leaders... the people who would probably be able to afford it.

In Order of the Stick, an Oracle Preemptively hired clerics to show up at specific locations and times to resurrect him- all the times he foresaw himself being killed.
