Moon Meditations
Rings of moths encircle a single star while the phases of the moon flash with silver around them.
Opaque black watercolor and silver leaf. 12x12”. 21 hours.
The original has been spoken for, but a limited run of hand-leafed prints are available through my shop. You can also get this on a shirt at DesignByHumans.
Since I had questions during the process of this piece about my media: leaf is a thin foil made of or made in imitation of precious metals. Silver leaf, therefore, looks flat and gray on the screen but shines and reflects light in person in a brilliant, beautiful manner that brings the piece to life.
I've hung a few of these works in art shows now because they really must be seen in person to be fully appreciated.
