I like to think it was just kind of a happy coincidence that the person who art desgined what appears to be a sullen teenage runaway as an "ideal girl" to be their weird mouthpiece for a manifesto also accidentally managed to make her resemble the people who are now completely and thoroughly worn out by all that garbage.
Except that's not what she was created for, she was designed to be a character in an indie game that would've been made by an organization that was trying to get more women into the industry and got shut down by some of the very people claiming to want more women in the industry.
Yup, her character is http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=tsundere&defid=4096396
A funding goal of TFYC's game project was to include your own character, /v/ was the largest single contributor ref, submitted a design named Vivian James.
TFYC's game project is greenlit: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfil...../?id=370251965 It's like Theme Hospital(or Dungeon Keeper, another Bullfrog game) + Monsters Inc.
Their new project is STEM scholarships for women and poor guys: http://thefineyoungcapitalists.tumb.....t-developments
Vivian has become their defacto mascot.
They're all VERY sex positive feminists(hence the porn charity partner) and that has made the more conservative ones a wee bit bitter, you know, the "boobs in games cause sexism" ones.

I'm really, really, really embarrassed for gamers at this point.
Zoe Quinn (a former police officer) showed up the 4chan dicks in a big way by recording all their incriminating IRC conversations. They're making excuses about it ("uh, we don't USE IRC! That's the ticket!") but after all this I'd hope people could see them for the compulsive liars they really are.

A) Zoe Quinn isn't a former police officer, she's a former security officer for a college.
B) It was a public IRC with no password and it was advertised at the top of every /v/ thread. Anyone could've walked in on it and saw what was going on. Anyone could've walked in on the /v/ threads and seen what was being discussed. It's not like any of it was a secret.
C) People made that excuse as a reactionary reflex immediately after it happened because it was 5 in the morning and people were either exhausted or asleep. They have since made it pretty clear since then that they'd been using it and it doesn't really matter.
D) The snippets were both cherry-picked and possibly slightly altered. Definitely cherry-picked to make them sound worse than they are. A lot of what Zoe posts is cherry-picked, in fact. A lot of the screencaps of 4chan posts have a billion replies on them that tell that person to "No, go away" but in harsher words because it's 4chan. But anyway a bunch of weeks' worth of full chat logs were released to the public as well, anyone is free to go look at them with context and additional parameters, like people telling those suggesting blackhat hacking to not do that and stuff.
E) I'm not entirely sure why they're 'compulsive liars'. I mean again, they openly admitted to having that IRC eventually and freely distributed the chatlogs they had. They make their message pretty clear in each Tweet and interview article thing that bothers to ask them. I haven't really seen any evidence of lying beyond other people telling them they're liars whenever they try to say their side.
F) It's more than just 4chan, y'know. /v/ has been somewhat a base of operations, yeah, but there's a lot of people who have migrated from Reddit due to the mass censorship and shadowbannings that have occurred since this all started. There's Tumblr people, there's plenty of Twitter people under #GamerGate and #NotYourShield (which are in fact still in full force despite Zoe claiming they're dead), there's game developers like Daniel Vavra and Brad Wardell, there's other journalists, celebrities, random other people... Heck, I don't think you can even really call it a "4chan" thing since only a couple of the 20 or 30 boards are even doing this thing. I guess technically it is but eh.
So yeah I dunno this is probably too wall of text-y but I felt like making some corrections and notes, cause it sounds like you were kinda misinformed or underinformed or somethin. Take it with a grain of salt I guess though, you're open to your own opinions, I guess I would just suggest trying to get more detailed info before making one. *shrug*

Well, I'll give you credit for being more polite than most. Nevertheless, GamerGate strikes me as inherently dishonest; an attempt to put a friendly face on what amounts to a prolonged campaign of harassment against an independent game developer. That harassment hasn't just affected Zoe Quinn, but Anita Sarkeesian and Jenn Frank as well, along with anyone who's supported them. Jenn Frank has sworn off video game journalism, and Phil Fish has threatened to leave the game industry because of the abuse he's taken. Even if it were created with good intentions (it wasn't), GamerGate has done far more harm to video games than good.
If there was a genuine concern for the integrity of gaming journalism, GamerGate would have targeted Geoff Keighley for the Doritos and Mountain Dew debacle from a couple of years ago, or CBS for firing Jeff Gerstmann after his negative Kane and Lynch review. Yet this campaign started last month, targeting small (mostly female) independent developers with limited industry influence. It even included Anita Sarkeesian in its dragnet, who doesn't make games at all, but is also female. To call that a suspicious coincidence would be an understatement of biblical proportions.
The behavior exhibited by gamers during this mess has been deplorable. Bullying, doxxing, rape and death threats... all over video games?! Someone's in desperate need of a sense of proportion.

Well, that's sad that you feel that way, #gamergate isn't really about that at all. It's true that Anita and Zoe and Jenn and more have been victims of harassment during the course of it, but harassment is also taking place against those who are pro-gamergate. One example is a Youtuber by the name of Jayd3Fox, who made a parody video of an Anita video that resulted in her getting doxed and frightened from the internet for a short while by a harrassing caller. One journalist that was covering the story, a British gay man, also received, according to him, death threats that numbered in the double digits. The doxing and harassment and threats are happening to both sides, and it's sad, cause that kind of thing shouldn't be happening at all and it's completely overtaking the conversation.
When you say #gamergate wasn't created with good intentions, I think you're mistaken on that. The "Quinnspiracy", which I guess is what that section of it is called, was more focused on the original Zoe controversy that arose, but #GG has sprouted from that in a more focused attempt for journalistic integrity within the indie game and gaming journalism industry and so forth. You probably assume this is a front for harassment, as many have claimed, but these are all voices shouting from one side of the argument, and I would urge you and anyone else to just consider entertaining the other side, who even Zoe herself has said has many decent people on it. I would also remind that, even though those women have been more visible in terms of publicity, there have been men implicated and talked about in this discussion as well. They don't really get brought up or focused on as much for some reason, which is unfortunate because it paints an uneven picture I think.
I will completely agree though that the bullying and doxxing and threats are uncalled for. However, I should note also that, as I said before, a fair share of these threats are being aimed at pro-#gamergate and even #notyourshield activitists within the hashtags. http://gamergateharrassment.tumblr.com/ This tumblr has been collecting instances of antagonism being thrown against supporters of #GG. The commentary is probably a little too biased and crass, but it does list a large swath of examples that may or may not help illustrate the other side better. Also, http://imgur.com/gallery/0TxBX shows some of the more extreme examples.
I think personally the best option that I kinda wish more people would adapt is moderation towards the debate. A lot of people are yelling and insulting and bullying and doxxing and threatening and spreading misinformation on both sides, which is causing everybody to shut each other out, when it could be an actual discussion on both integrity and feminism. At a glance it's "just video games", but the vitriol is definitely something to take seriously.

Actually, KYM has been documenting the whole thing since it's conception.

TL:DR: "Journalist" are being outed as corrupt with a massive trail evidence backing it, said journalists and "SJW"s are trying to make it about sexism and committing mass professional suicide in order to derail it, and the "SJW" crowd is trying to push their own agenda by using their contacts to silence anyone who portrays them in a negative light. Also /v/ made Vivian as part of a charity gaming pitch for women, not to be a mouthpiece of any sorts.
I suggest you take a good look at this before it's gone, because I'm probably next on the chopping list...

Please, try to understand. There is a great deal of misinformation going around, as such an influential part of the furry art and paraphilia community, it's your job to make sure that your statements are backed up by facts. I ask you not to take a side, but to make sure that the community doesn't make accusations based upon false assumptions, your view of what Vivian James is for example.
Please, read though what has been documented first, then feel free to comment on the matter.

"Vivian James is a fictional character conceived through a collaboration between 4chan‘s /v/ (video games) board and the indie game developer group The Fine Young Capitalists. The character can be viewed as an anthropomorphized avatar of the /v/ board community created in response to Zoe Quinn’s purported attack on the second-wave feminist organization The Fine Young Capitalists (TFYC)[5] while they were trying to fund a Game Jam to assist women’s projects in gaming development."
Really, /v/ didn't make VJ in an attempt to create a mouthpiece or to push an agenda. Rather she was created when /v/ was given the rights to make a character for a charity organization, and due to the mounting pressure and vitriol from anti-videogame "activists" (and the fact that this was one of the only productive things that /v/ has does in a while) they decided to rally behind her.
4chan doesn't need PR because they have no names behind them and thus, no reputation to uphold. Vivian is more of a mascot for /v/, something for them to rally behind in this whole GamerGate fiasco. You don't yell at the mascot for your sports team because they lost the game.

I just quoted the VJ article on KYM, no use trying to correct it with me, I just copied and pasted.
As for TFYC, I belive they are classified as second wave because they are known as classical feminists, one who strive for equality as opposed to third wave who have a lean towards supremacy.
And for 4chan's reputation...well, this should explain everything:
http://i2.kym-cdn.com/photos/images.....26/613/1da.png
(Skip to last two parts if you REALLY have an allergy to words)
Getting angry at 4chan with something controversial on it is the equivalent at getting angry at a local bulletin board with a controversial letter some vagrant stuck on it.

Well fair enough on the copypaste, but you're the one relying on KYM as an information source and it seems to have a bit of a glitch in it. Second wave feminism had to do mainly with legal inequalities like workplace and reproductive rights, while third wave feminism came about in the 90s and mostly has to do with breaking down stereotypes, increasing media visibility and representation in male-dominated industries, and the increasing intersection with LGBT issues. I assume TFYC's issues fit more into the third wave.

It sounds like what you're telling me, then, is that because of the anonymous nature of the chans, the collective itself has no responsibility for the actions of any of its members, so basically we should just give them all free passes to do whatever the hell they want. In that case, if 4chan or /v/ or whatever is as slippery and malleable and impossible to pin down as you say, then they surely won't have anything to fear from people criticizing their behavior whether or not the critiques are valid, because nothing can stick to them. Each member can always just claim that, because they themselves weren't part of the bad behavior, then no one can be held to account. Although it is strange that even though blame for bad behavior is diffused among the members to the point that it disappears, the collective seems eager to take credit as one for the supposedly selfless Vivian James donations.
In fact, if that site doesn't have a reputation and doesn't need a PR campaign, then why are you so eager to conduct a PR campaign here?

I greatly appreciate that you haven't resorted to ad hominem attacks at this point, that proves you can have a rational conversation, for now at least...
I defend them because you seem to be accusing /v/ and thus gaming culture as a whole of doing terrible terrible things for what a couple of anons did. Now, seeing how you've dismissed the "we all aren't like that" argument, probably due to bias unrelated to the incident (I'm not condoning you for this), I at least decided to at least correct some misconceptions on the existence of the subject of the work in question.
I think we've bickered enough in the comments. If you really want to continue this conversation, move it to PM.

I disagree, I think public comments are the best place to have this discussion but whatev.

That's got to be the most backhanded compliment I've heard yet! Well done :)

Well, since you just dismissed the idea that gaming culture in any way encourages these bad behaving anons, I guess we're even on that one.

Well, obviously then you can't trust anything I say, because all my opinions are apparently tainted by PRIOR EXPERIENCE.
Also, according to KYM's entry on Vivian James:
"On August 21, 4chan’s /pol/ (Politically Incorrect) board came up with the idea of helping The Fine Young Capitalists with the objective of boosting the image of the whole imageboard."

My apologies for my last statement, I never meant it as an insult, I'm just a rather blunt individual.
As for what /pol/ did, it seems as if the did it for the lulz of a charity and a SJ movement being headed by the "internet hate machine", effectively spitting in the face of people like Anita and Quinn. However, it is irrelevant, as the subject of who VJ is associated with is /v/, not /pol/; while the idea did start in /pol/, it eventually spread to /v/. An infograph for reference:
http://i0.kym-cdn.com/photos/images.....16/363/e9f.png
I didn't explicitly bring up dismissal of the idea that gaming culture is inherently bad. Although, now that you it bring it up, I am concerned where you come from with this. Perhaps you would be willing to tell me what not /v/, but the over 100 MILLION people that play games did to warrant such malice.

I wasn't trying to point out a discrepency in who created Vivian James, I just meant that, according to KYM, the character was created as a PR gimmick. The infograph confirms this with the original posters saying "we will look really good if we donate to this" and "we'd be PR-untouchable." So again, the main motivation seems to be to repair the imageboard's shitty reputation for harassment and attacks on women.
I'm not even sure why people are trying to spit in Sakeesian's face, since she doesn't even seem to be involved in this brouhaha other than being the go-to target for whenever any woman criticizes anything to do with video games.
Not to mention that the claim that Vivian James isn't a mouthpiece for /v/ gamers falls apart when you see how people are using the character: http://agoutirex.tumblr.com/post/97.....-back-home-ive

They can't take criticism of their precious video games without flying into hilarious Internet hysterics. They act like having a hobby shared by literally every other person in America and the western world makes them an oppressed minority. They think that increasing minority representation in games is somehow incompatable with fun. They ignore systematic corruption and collusion in the industry they claim to love until it involves an inconsequential sex scandal. They send death threats because someone doesn't like the same toys they do. They elevated boring non-entity Sarkeesian into public bogeyman #1 with their bellyaching. They think that glorified fanboys like Jontron deserve more regard than veteran content creators like Tim Schafer. They are responsible for CAD and, to an lesser degree, CAD: The Animated Series. They won't stop rehashing that tired THE CAKE IS A LIE joke. They should be outside getting some fresh air.

While I understand this perspective on Vivian James, I think it's important to acknowledge that she is a character created to appear in a game from a Game Jam run by a group called the Fine Young Capitalists. This is a group that is attempting to run an Indie Gogo campaign to give women a chance to get into game development by giving them access to concept artists and helping them turn their idea into a finished product. A goal of $2000 was met solely by users from 4chan (going up to over $13000 in donations from this one site) that would allow this character into the winning game of the game jam.
It's undoubted that some terrible things have happened and been said by both sides of the conflict, but it's an utter shame to paint an entire group of users with such a large brush. While there is a loud minority of less mature members who can't handle anonymity and use it to harass others or even reveal personal info, this is a large group of individuals who all think differently and have different intentions.
While some people have used this as an excuse to harass others online, there is a huge set of people who are genuinely interested in trying to change the nepotism and lack of disclosure that (blatantly) runs through gaming journalism.
It is not just women who have met backlash in this controversy, and I do not believe it is misogyny at all that this movement is based on, but is the product of an unfortunate vocal minority hiding behind anonymity that should not be supported.
P.S.
/v/ hates mountain dew

It is not just women who have met backlash in this controversy, and I do not believe it is misogyny at all that this movement is based on, but is the product of an unfortunate vocal minority hiding behind anonymity that should not be supported.
P.S.
/v/ hates mountain dew
Well, I'm going to disagree with you here!
Every group is going to be judged by its worst members. That's just the way it is. I'm sure there are plenty of upstanding furries around here, but we still all know that furries are basement-dwelling dog fuckers.
Now, every time one of these anonymous boards pulls some shady shit, whether it's harassment, doxing, piracy, or whatever, they're always quick to say OH IT WASN'T ME, IT WAS THAT VOCAL MINORITY OF BAD APPLES ie NOT ALL GAMERS. It's not like they ever try to curb that shit from happening, because that might infringe on their precious anon freedoms, so that bad behavior just continues; the best anon boards seem to be able to do is shift blame or, at best, try to distract with obvious PR movies like this whole Vivian James thing. Let's be honest, no one gives a shit about some girl game jam or whatever. The only reason 4channers decided to donate money is because they suddenly realized that sending death threats to prominent woman video game people was starting to make them look bad in the press and apparently that's the one thing that they can't stand.
Also, if /v/ is indeed a not a collective who can be blamed for the actions of a few, then you really can't say that they hate Mountain Dew. Some of them might like Mountain Dew. :)

I'd like to know how you feel about the harassment of those supporting gamergate then. Total Biscuit has received numerous death threats while maintaining an extremely reasonable stance and so have many others. The most recent instance I can think of is Zoe Quinn linking directly to a Doxx of a young transgendered teen through her twitter: http://www.reddit.com/r/KotakuInAct.....ors_who_tried/

4chan has an internet reputation that already proceeds it, and I do not think it's a reputation that is being worried about. All of the users are anonymous and once they step away from the boards, they carry no reputation, no accountability, and no stake in the reputation of 4chan.
The donation campaign started after Zoe Quinn had attempted to ruin the Fine Young Capitalist's game jam, doxxing it's creator and trying to frame them as a scam group and exploitative towards women. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1d6Q3VpqXyk
4chan users saw this as hypocritical and decided to support this group because no one else would after Zoe had branded them in such a fashion.
"It's not like they ever try to curb that shit from happening"
How do you curb something like that though? You can't control anonymous posters. There have been posts telling people not to do it, to distance their focus from Zoe and Anita and others, etc.
"you really can't say that they hate Mountain Dew."
This was partially a joke and partially and acknowledgement of the infamy of mountain dew and doritos on the board.

Easy, they're a bunch of shitty assholes too. I have long maintained that anyone involved with video games in any way is pretty much terrible and video games should be banned. But I guess because other people are shits too, then that automatically exonerates 4chan.

Interesting that contrary to all previous history, 4chan has suddenly decided to act in a totally selfless manner with no thought to personal gain.

The point is that both sides have users have extreme individuals and that is not a good reason to condemn either one.

You have directly involved yourself by creating commentary with this image.

If you would like to give me examples of a previous history that would make this impossible I would be willing to listen!

An impossibility whether for better or worse.

That tumblr post, oh jeez. So basically, an anon sent a backhanded comment claiming video games are baby toys, and the author of the blog, believing they were one of those SJW types that have spent the past month outright denouncing gamers, told the anon off while remaining in character and giving it the general attitude that was being directed at those tumblrellas at the time. Here's a question, what would be the CORRECT way that blogger would respond? How would you say they could disagree with that insult, while remaining in character? Do you not think for a moment that that comment put them in that position where they had to stand their ground?
As for the rest, those are some rather serious allegations, however, I simply just don't see where you're coming from, other than it seems that it came from the last few weeks. Perhaps you need to speak up, after all, evidence speaks louder than words. Let's say I'm a skeptic know nothing about what has happened over the past few weeks. How would you confirm these accusations to me?

They can answer it any way they want, I don't care. I'm just saying that I don't buy that Vivian James was not created as a PR move when the creators themselves describe it as a PR move in their initial posts and I don't buy that the character isn't a mouthpiece for anon /v/ gamer whatever opinions when the character is being used expressly as a mouthpiece for those opinions. If the creator of that Tumblr didn't want to give the impression that they were using the character as a mouthpiece and they couldn't think of any way to answer the question that wouldn't give that impression, they probably should have just ignored the ask.
As for the rest, I don't see why you need evidence beyond what's happened in the last few weeks, which I'm sure you're already familiar with. If anything, the last few weeks have laid bare the soul of gamer culture. If you want more, just look at how gamer culture has reacted with absolute hysterics to any dumb thing Anita Sarkeesian ever says -- even before they knewwhat she was going to say, they went crazy just at the prospect of her kickstarter. But if you want more evidence of the most damning thing about gamer culture, just google Cntl Alt Del and look at the shit that gamers choose to spend their money on.

Well, in that case, the utilize of the mouthpiece isn't /v/ but rather the blogger, no reason to blaim /v/ for something they can't control. Hell, they even tried (in vain) to get artist to not make porn about them.
I notice you keep referencing that CAD is somehow a measure of gaming culture. Let me tell you, no one likes it, NO ONE. The fact that Tim Buckley is still producing it after the backlash he got from the gaming crowd for producing the bloody abortion scene is baffling. Hell, they even parody Buckley's crowning moment of fail in an internet meme. Even Yahtzee of the Escapist even lashed out against him, he's that fucking bad. Rest assured, one thing you and gamers can agree on is that Tim Buckley is a talent-less hack.
Overall opinion on CAD can be referenced here: http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/loss-.....ltdel-parodies
Yahtzee's video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5t4xS2PqFFA
I have been looking back over the past few weeks and I'm seeing a much different picture than you. I see an upheval in gaming journalism caused by the reveal of hard proof of corruption involving the producer of Depression Quest creating conflicts of interest with several journalists and judging officials in order to push the game. Those said journalists and others like them, then responded in vitriol in order to shame the community back in line, with members of the "SJ" movement joining in due to the influence of the dev.
Perhaps we could edify each other on our different views? I am quite curious where you get your information from. I just hope you share my curiosity.

Isn't the blogger part of /v/? I don't know who else would have such interest in pushing the /v/ party line. I guess it doesn't matter, since the anonymous nature of /v/ means that you can never actually pin them down on anything. It's very convenient for them. The point still stands that Vivian James was created as a PR bandage and being used to voice pro-/v/ gamer opinions.
CAD pulls in nearly $4000 a month via Patreon, and probably even more through its merchandising, branding and that aborted con that he ran. Certainly someone, quite a few someones, seem to really like CAD and, since CAD is all bad video game jokes, I'm going to hazard that those someone are all gamers.
I don't feel like trying to remember every ridiculous gamer response of the last two years to every mention of Anita Sarkeesian. But I suppose I could post some of the news links that I've read if you really want me to, although I don't see much point in it. Everything in gamergate is disputed, right down to whether there's actually any corruption at all since apparently the reporter she was fucking never actually covered her dumb game in any case. However, since I've seen the way that gamers react to anything negative about their dumb video games like it's a personal attack, I don't have any trouble believing the worst of them. In fact, it really doesn't matter whether Zoe Quinn and co are the biggest pieces of shit on the planet, the overblown death threaty reactions of gamers have completely destroyed any claim to legitimacy they've ever had in this spat.

You claim that /v/ created Vivian as SOLELY as a means of promoting the latest controversy, this has been already been proven false by the evidence about her conception posted and the information in the article's image gallery. While she could be seen as a means of promoting GG and the like, there doesn't seem to be any examples of that other one post that one blog; feel free to prove me wrong. But even if she was a PR icon, to what end would that achieve? Again, 4chan doesn't have an identity outside of the boards. Where is this PR being directed too? 4chan? They already hate the SJWs if the tumblur skirmish is anything to go by. Twitter? No, that's what the hashtags go. Tumblur? The method there seems to be to post direct evidence. I would love to here your theory.
As for CAD. Sure, $4000 dollars from Patreon might seem like a lot compared to some weekend artist's commission pool, but it's the context that kills it. CAD is Tim's full time job, and only making $4000 dollars out of a potential 100 million people is just utterly pitiful. Unless Tim has cornered the custom shirt industry, it's pretty safe to assume that those that watch CAD and are also gamers is an almost microscopic amount. It would defy logic to use them as a measure as to gaming's tastes.
As for Qu...err...Literally Who as she's widely referred too, you might be confusing GG with this:
http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/events/quinnspiracy
The movement has since moved long past her, but really, I think the origin needs to be addressed. Sure, it's bad when artists create conflicts of interest, but the reason why people are so up in arms about this is due to the Streisand Effect. Censorship from Reddit, to Steam, to the sites that claim they wish to discuss it (but apparently when it's only about their point of view) was widely reported after the Zoe Post. People hate corruption, but censorship really gets people riled up. Quinn is a non entity at this point, the internet trying to distance the movement and thus her from the whole incident by referring to her as "Literally Who", even trying to distance Sarkeesian as "Literally Who 2". The only ones who benefit from bringing them up in the conversation is themselves, as they seem to rely on a perpetual state of victimhood in order to make notoriety and coin.
Also one more thing, where do you get the idea that /v/ is inherently sexist? Especially when the Entertainment Software Association comes with this interesting statistic:
http://www.theesa.com/facts/pdfs/ESA_EF_2013.pdf
I don't think it's because 4chan is a male's world as well because:

The screencap you posted shows that they were making the character with an eye toward improving their image and furthering their own agenda. I'm not sure what you're talking about when you question WHO they're trying to impress with their PR move. People don't have to have a specific audience in mind when they do PR, often they just want to look better to the world at large. This whole thing about 4chan not having an identity off the boards is bullshit. 4Chan is made up of people and many of those people, even if they're not easily identified as 4Chan users one they leave the site, probably feel some vested interest in the site's reputation. Once I leave FA, no one can identify me as an FA user. But if someone says HEY FA IS A BIG PILE OF CRAP AND ALL THE PEOPLE WHO USE IT ARE STUPID, then I might suddenly feel the stirrings of national Internet pride and seek to defend it -- even if I'm not an official representative of the site. You certainly feel invested in defending the site even though you're not an official representative. Why would you care about 4chan's reputation if, as you say, it doesn't have one? Since 4chan itself has banned mention of gamergate, it seems that even the site's moderators feel that this fiasco is bad press for the site (unless you think that this might also be part of this vast media conspiracy).
First off, for every 100 people that consume a free service, you'd probably be lucky to get one to willingly donate even a few cents. The fact that he can get $4000 indicates that his readership must be far greater than just those donors. In any case, all of the readers will be gamers and, even if we ignore CAD, gamers are still responsible for PVP, Dueling Analogs, GU Comics, and VG Cats among others. All the worst webcomics! They should be ashamed.
Again, gamers suddently care about corruption only after it involves a woman having sex. Did they not notice Doritogate or Kane & Lynch or how all game journalism is basically just BUY THIS VIDEOGAME WE'VE BEEN PAID TO SHILL? Video game journalism has always been a joke and I don't even like to call it journalism -- that graces it with too much prestige when it's really just soft PR. But gamers only now make a stink about this? It seems very suspicious and the sudden claims that it's NOT about the incident that ignited the firestorm sound highly dubious.
By your logic /v/ can't be inherently sexist or no sexist because there is no collective, only individuals who can slough off responsibility.

God, yes.
God, yes.
Hi Agouti, I have watched you for a while and listened to SHOW too, but I feel that I have to say something now. Please understand that you shouldn't paint all gamers with the same brush because of the actions of a few. You've already seen that the actions of certain individuals do not represent the actions of all gamers, so it's really not accurate to say the things you are saying about all gamers. I would have to respectfully agree with Aconcernedrifleman that it is rather irresponsible to continue spreading information that you know is not true. There's some good information in those links that I believe will help you understand Gamergate and the Quinspiracy better.
As a gamer, someone involved in Gamergate, formerly a poster on 4chan and still a participant in anonymous culture, and lover of horrifying fetish art, I feel compelled to weigh in on this with my account that I created solely for ease of browsing pornography. I'm really tempted to read up on all of these tl;dr comments but I'm gonna get my words out and regret them later when you point out how I shoulda read that shit.
I'm not offended by this picture, because I don't care about the origin of VJ. I don't know who drew her, I don't know who chipped in character design notes. I know that it HAPPENED on the /v/ imageboard of 4chan. Frankly I think using her as a mouthpiece was a silly decision, when really all I wanted out of her was a cool character design and some neat fanart, but 4chan has a history of making little girls their spokeslolis (Yotsuba, the little girl versions of Moot and Snacks).
Now that 4chan has banned Gamergate discussion for whatever reason (it's not bad press; this is the home of /pol/, filled with would-be nazis; and it's not because "not related to video games" because it absolutely is), a number of the Gamergaters have gone to 8chan, citing Moot as a hypocrite. From my experience, 8chan is better in nearly every way, save that there aren't as many people yet. You create your own board, mod it, and if you leave it unattended or nobody posts in it it's deleted, creating healthy competition and a deterrent against abusive modding. Your board can be literally anything as long as it doesn't break US laws (including doxxing, calls to raid, etc.). There's a pretty healthy-looking furry board on there, for example.
That said I'm not gonna guess where you actually stand on this shit because you're a wild card and my Poe's Law sense is so fucking burned out by this that it's useless. Part of it reminds me of the Insidious Male Privilege Gyno-Star fanart you did where everyone saw exactly what they wanted out of it (I'm leaning towards it actually being a thing, because let's face it, although men don't have everything their way they do have a LOT their way just because of previously existing structures).
I'm pretty sure I'm rambling at this point so I'm gonna cut this short.

I'm pretty sure I'm rambling at this point so I'm gonna cut this short.
btw when I say anonymous culture or A-culture or whatever I mean this. http://canopycanopycanopy.com/conte.....ture__treatise
Video games are great, wonderful even. Its just, some people are weird and easily corrupted and warped. They lose track on reality, I mean reading does the same. Look at Christianity, people read it and believe it while contradicting the "good" book.
But in all truthfulness, I lost my humanity thanks to video games and media. More on the media part, but video games created a picture that even the worst of us can be the best of us... which is bull shit. All men (yesh women too) are nothing more then desire. That is impure, as such, 'evil." With taht being said, I am told I am a "good" person, even though I am far from it.
I am evil, they're evil, and until nothing will change that. All the while kicking, screaming, yearning for our pitiful life. Not wanting it to end. That is why this is a utopia yes? I mean, we die, so what, it still goes on... forever unending with no true span of time. Lost in the past since the future is non existent because the present is all but a moment.
Damn you, you made me think and now I have an ice burg worth of philosophical mumbo jumbo going around in my head.
