This was done in the summer of '05 for my first Maya class. This shows what I actually modeled in low poly, then let the software smooth it all out for me. There is much more control this way.

I'm seriously impressed. It shows me that I have a lot more work to do before I'm really a good modeler in Maya. I usually use twice as many polys and only get half as much good detail. Grats.

You said it's done with maya? Very impressing! I even failed at 3d studio max :( guess I have to work more on it. Just got the english version and it's hard to use it. But I guess there are lots of tricks which make it easier, huh?

Heh, I model in low poly too. I'm about to shoot out a pic comparing the two. I use turbosmooth and it does makes a huge difference. ^^~@~^^

Some nice models there (and a weird domain name). It looks like he's using displacement maps to get that extra detail. I plan on using those once I get deeper into 3d. Probably gonna use Mudbox to do it when I'm ready. ^^~@~^^
