SO. I thought that Dak's cybernetics were a bit plain the way I did them before. So I decided to remake them. XD A bit more detailed like. So here they are. Also PURPLE.
OKAY, A few things for those that want to know. Dak is a Daemon that had his conciousness uploaded to an android shell, so his brain is essentially organic in thought. Thus why I consider him a Synthetic or Cyborg.
The clean cut to his head, is because his skin is also synthetic and has the feature of being able to create seams, allowing him to remove parts of his skin, and then heal them when he puts them back. So this is not a suit, this is actually what's under his skin.
I'm still working on some other parts of this image, but this is the one I felt like posting. I might post the other technical spec type picture I have as well, but throw that in scraps. I also have a Version of him without a face... It's pretty awesome to see the muscles underneath. XD
If someone says this looks like a Crysis suit I'm gonna smack them. :V How the hell else am I going to draw synthetic muscles? Just cause it has synthetic muscles doesn't automatically make it a Crysis suit. XD

Cumbersome? Maybe a tad. =P I think I drew them a bit bulkier than I should have.
Cybernetics can look like lots of things, they're basically mechanical prosthesis' in this case. The reason they look like actual muscle is because it's supposed to mimic the musculature structure, so when he has skin over it it looks organic. The skin is thick enough that it doesn't create odd shapes because of the metal, wires or tubes. So the reason they look like actual muscle is mostly for vanity sake, otherwise he wouldn't look 'normal' when he had his skin over top of it. It does have a more hard metal chassis under it.

Hm. I dunno. personally, I would go for an efficient look. But I've just got a thing for everything looking extremely efficient. I would say the chassi could be thinner and lighter, with a bulkier Epidermis, one that has the muscle tone "built in" so it would deal with hiding the wires tubes and such, and its still got the musculature structure mimiced.
There's not much you can do to make a super thin chassis have a musculature. You'll still need something that somewhat mimics the shape of a normal human body underneath, unless you have like 3-4 inches or more thickness of the skin, which wouldn't bend or flex in the same way. Unless you have a working musculature built into the skin as you said. In that case it's the same as this, just the skin and muscles are part of the same thing rather than separate.
Dak's cybernetics are kinda a hybrid of combat and casual use, so they need some bulk to them, and they are made with light enough materials that he's still pretty fast. The muscles actually can absorb impact, somewhat similar to Kevlar, because his base skeleton is made of lightweight metals for more speed, so while it is durable it's more fragile then most other metals. So they aren't just there for no reason. Though as I said, I think I made them a tad more bulky then they should've been.

Arguably, Crysis' Nanosuit is itself based on actual human muscle. Heck, how else is your body going to be life-like and move with a flowing gait if you don't have a synthetic form that best replicates natural forms? Motoko Kusanagi wouldn't have her nice body if she went for something else... unless you're flesh grown over an actuated metal endoskeleton, as in the case of the T-800. :]
Still lovely. I like my cyborgs lithe and squishy. I wonder if he can float or swim too?
