Over the summer, TJ was hit by a car. He survived just fine, but because of his injuries, his ability to walk was compromised. With lots of work, and the support of his family, he was able to graduate to crutches before the first day of school.

As he approached the building, TJ was nervous--not just because he was starting a new grade, but he was unsure of how his friends would react. He knew that he wasn't going to be able to play soccer at recess, but there were lots of other fun activities. He saw one of his friends, George, who was also a fox. TJ shouted out to his friend and gave a wave. George waved back and trotted over, greeting his friend and jabbering about what great fun they'll have. He barely even noticed TJ's new "accessories".

Because of my recent diagnosis of muscular dystrophy, I've decided that TJ (who is essentially me) should need some sort of adaptive device to get around. Although the level of my disability isn't severe, nor with any luck, will it become very severe, my walking gait is already affected.

TJ is an extension of myself, and thus needs crutches.
