It sounds like you've been listening to a good bit of Holst's or Granger's band music. Reminds me of a number of the symphonic suites we played.

I ADORE Holst. I'm not terribly familiar with Granger's stuff, but I've heard some work of his and enjoyed it. I actually wasn't really thinking of any particular composer to emulate (though, sometimes I do. =p) This was more of a "I've just realised how pretty I think woodwinds are. How do I show that?"
