Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5
(Story by Koviell Sashermasock)
"You guys stay there, I'll go ahead and check if this place is safe." Arkum said.
"Got it."
"Do any of you two got a weapon to defend themselves if needed?" Arkum asked to the others.
"I got my knife, but nothing else." Leena said.
"I carry a weapon with me, sorry." Bishop said.
"Okay, let's hope we won't end up fighting something. I don't have enough weapons for everyone; Soala got my spare sword." Arkum said.
"Then let's hope we won't end up in a fight." Bishop said.
"Let's hope so. Now, I'm on my way. Be safe." Arkum said before scouting ahead.
We were alone from now, near the lake. We can't see Arkum from there, he's now too far in the darknesses. I really hope this place is safe. I'm sleepy, I don't know if it's the same for the others.
We were silent, waiting for Arkum to get back. The silence is oppressing, I don't feel great waiting. I was looking at Bishop, begging for him to say something.
"So… how long you and your friend know each other?" Bishop asked.
"For many years. I met him when I received my training with weaponry. We were teammate at first, and then we become friends. Since the first invasion, we couldn't see each other often, and never for long. And now, we're together again, but just not in the best situation."
"I see." Bishop said.
"And you two? How did you two meet?"
"Well, I was mostly translating registries about births of the city, so I had to get to the Nursery some time. I met Leena there. She's wonderful and..." Bishop said. He seemed hesitant to finish his sentence.
"Now we're great friends" Leena said.
And now an awkward silence. Bishop, please, say something.
"It's been a while that he's away. I hope he's okay. Look! He's coming back!" Bishop said.
Arkum was indeed coming back, but something was weird : he wasn't alone. 2 figures were following him. They... those guys are dwarves, and they are threatening Arkum with their hand cannons.
"Who... Who are they?"
"I'm sorry Soala. They surprised me and now they're pushing me here. I think they did know we were there. I have no idea what they're saying." Said Arkum.
"Who are you supposed to be? And what are you doing here?" Asked one of the dwarves, in their language.
"Can you understand him?" Asked me Arkum.
"Yes, let me handle this."
"We're survivors from Kapazu. We're trying to flee because of the recent attack of the Gray Ones on our city. Before we left the city, Kapazu was in flames. Now, we're trying to reach the Surface." I said in their language.
Those dwarves gave me a suspicious look.
"Why would they burn their own city?" Asked one of the dwarves.
"Well, it's not their city, they conquered it."
"He asked why would they burn their own city." Said the other dwarf.
"They hate us, because we're not like them."
The 2 dwarves were looking at each other. It was like they were agreeing on something mentally.
"Okay. We will have to ask our superior what to think of this. For now, you're under arrest. Your weapons will be confiscated. If your story is true and you're doing this nicely, you should be free tomorrow." Said the first dwarf.
"What did he say?" Asked Leena.
"We're under arrest." Said Bishop.
"What will we do now?" Asked Arkum.
"They will confiscate our weapons and probably put us in detention for a short time." I said in draconian.
What a luck, now we're aren't free anymore. I just hope this will go alright. Arkum wasn't pleased to give his weapons, but we didn't have much choice. I just hope their superior will believe us. For now, we're guided in the tunnel by the 2 dwarves. Bishop was scared and Leena was stressed. We had to remain strong. The vast tunnel way brought us to Shoenolh, a dwarven city.
