when valeram was ‘younger’, they were too lazy to make deals with humans so instead they just cached and murdered humans that wandered too close to their lair. when local people figured out that there was something strange going on, the humans tried to leave some sort of offerings to calm down the ‘evil spirit’. the random crap people left for valeram just confused them badly because they had no idea what the random items were and why people had left that stuff there.
