Anyway...

This is another OC of mine, Lydia Kappel. She's a rat, who lives on a futuristic Earth where science advanced to the point of being able to 'uplift' animal species into sapient beings. Lab rats and mice were among the first to undergo this process, and as a result are far more numerous in population than other uplifted animals such as dogs, cats, and such...

Experiments involving the process still happen in Lydia's time, though they've moved beyond mammals for the most part and are now attempting to uplift avians. Reptiles will likely be next to follow...

Uplifting does not really change too much in regard to the animals themselves. Lydia still has all of the biology and DNA of Rattus norvegicus, but her ancestors were altered in a way that arranged their biology to look more human. Like her feral ancestors she has strong legs, and she clearly isn't scared to show them off.
