Well, that was easy.
For the record, I LOVE Biggest Little Fur Con. Not only is it one of the few conventions within driving distance of me, it is one of the most unique furry con experiences I've found. In most conventions, the entire hotel is devoted to the con, giving you few opportunities to meet those not already in the fandom. BLFC is only a small portion of a massive hotel, giving everyone lots of opportunities to meet people of all kinds. And it's a blast. One of my favorite moments was when a high school girl's basketball team saw me in fursuit and right away started calling me "coach".
One very unique thing about BLFC is that they have a public stage set up in an huge open area, where everyone can hang out, play games, check out the dealer's den, everything. It's a wonderful space, and a terrific location to host events so that everyone can watch them.
But it's not good for recording.
I learned very quickly when I first saw the space that I was not going to be able to record anything useful. But hey, I agreed to host my panel, so I set up my gear and even got a helpful paw from the staff to hook into the PA equipment. I know that stepping up to the front of a panel room and performing a script in front of people is quite intimidating-- imagine doing that for an entire atrium on a PA. :P My attendance for the panel was approximately six.
But those six brave souls still had a good time. Since there's no point in me editing this audio with all the noise in the background, I've just delivered them as-is. These are all the second takes, with all the hiccups and mistakes left in, even my directing heard off-mic. You can probably even hear the PA along with all the cheerful voices of the attendees of the con. Unfortunately, with all the noise there's just nothing more that I can do to clean up these recordings, but it's cool to have a chance to share a bit of what goes on during the panel, and some of the directing notes that I give during the performances. Here you can listen to what I cut out. :)
And you can be absolutely certain I'll keep bringing my panel to BLFC. Even if the second year, they only gave me a one-hour slot with no set-up time for my recording gear. XD I do love the challenges!
