Four hours for the pencil drawing. At least twice that for the color. And I still can’t believe this came from me!
'Fortitudo de terra' is Latin for 'The strength of the earth'. Special thanks to Keystone for helping me come up with a variety of translations to choose from!
I had the original idea to do this a month or two ago, but never really touched it beyond sketching thumbnails out for each crest I wanted to do. I’m pretty sure pony crests aren’t anything new, but I’m not certain if anyone’s done the pony types with the Mane Six specifically.
I do plan on eventually doing Unicorn and Pegasi crests as well, though I don’t have a timeline. I also may do one with Celestia and Luna (natural born Alicorns) and, if I’m feeling adventurous, one of Cadance and Twilight (created Alicorns).
I might add ivy mantling to it, but I’m still not sure. We’ll see!
Also, I’m still accepting commissions, in exchange for comics as well as standard ones!

Nice to read that you're having a distinct designation between born and created Alicorns. Because that nonsense with Twilight probably threw a wrench into this idea once you finished it and went "Well damn, Twilight fits...everything now!"

I don't mind Alicorn Twilight. I think had M.A. Larson been able to have two episodes to tell the story and present the idea more smoothly, it would have gone over better. I like the direction the show took after she became a princess. She didn't change at all, beyond physically, and it presented a whole new angle of the show. Really, it could have been much, much worse!
I'd planned on drawing Twilight as her old unicorn self for the Unicorn crest, anyway :D
