Firelight awoke to find herself in an incredibly strange place. Her entire body felt drained and weak and she felt as though she had become quite sick. She was unable to call upon any magic or psionic reserves, but with an effort she found herself able to stand and walk.
Looking around she saw a dark but cleanly-kept metallic factory of some kind. Light-up displays, meters, controls, and switches adorned the walls. Firelight slowly made her way in the direction she hoped might be the exit, unaware that something had noticed HER.
Initiating a life-saving protocol that had not been called upon for ages, the nonetheless well-kept machines began to perform their duties.
Firelight screamed in alarm and terror as she was grabbed from all directions by several mechanical arms, which held her in place as a glass tube descended. She soon found herself incapable of moving as a powerful sedative took hold inside of the glass. Before things went dark, she felt some kind of strange, transformative gooey substance begin to pour on her.
Converting skin and vital organs... the progress log confirmed. This would be the very first full-blooded dragon to ever go the conversion process in this particular laboratory.
As the synthetic coating hardened and molded her body into a more efficient shape and size, nanotechnological electronic components started altering and shifting her internally, converting her vital organs into long-lasting synthetic counterparts. Her wings and horns were trimmed significantly, her overall body size was reduced, and a booster pack was attached to her back to add in improved flight in a more compact frame.
The machines discovered something interesting in her vital reading during her conversion process. Finding that Firelight's natural essence contained both magical and psionic potential, the brain scans traced to memories and and the conversion procedure was altered accordingly to allow for an artificial equivalent better adapted to the new robotic life form.
Firelight's "soul," her conscious, sentient brain was saved for last, as this was by far the most important and time-consuming process. Every single memory and thought and feeling of Firelight's was traced, copied, refined, and enhanced to crystal clarify for perfect recall in the future. The sentient, conscious part of her was synthesized; everything that made Firelight who she was had now been converted into a vastly more capable electronic storage with an optional uplink to mainframe computers for reference and study.
The protective robotic shell finally cast around her, the electronic uplink sent a signal to reactivate Firelight 2.
Removing the metalic lids from her illuminating eyes, Firelight looked around in stunned amazement. So much data... err.. information... was being displayed inside of her mind.
Am I... alive...? Firelight 2 thought to herself, somewhat afraid to move. She felt... something addressing her via internal communication protocol. Unsure of how she even knew how to access the speaking voice and yet doing so with no trouble, Firelight allowed the main computer of the factory an uplink.
Welcome to the year 2350, Firelight, it said.
Firelight cut off the communication protocol, wanting to keep her thoughts to herself; and yet STILL not sure how she was doing so with such ease. Memories from long past were flooding her, and she had to quickly categorize each individual memory from her decades upon decades of life into specific memory compartments arranged in order of acheological importance, recall duration, alphabetical reference of every individual person she had ever known, and most importantly, personal value. Arranging every single memory she ever had into categories of personal value took by far the most time of all, lasting a full 1.257 seconds.
That monumental task done, Firelight looked down at her body. She felt something akin to a blush, though obviously nothing showed of the kind. She scanned her environment. Old conversion factory. No real use to her. She needed to find a better interface to discover how she had arrived. Perhaps it was possible for her to return whence she came. Was that possible? And if she went back, could she become flesh and blood again? The data available to her on that subject at present was insufficient. Err... that was... she didn't know yet. That internal vocabulary was going to take some getting used to. But then... maybe she didn't feel much like becoming a traditional lifeform again after all. She... certainly didn't seem to dislike this at all, and her emotional component was fully functioning. Err... she was capable of emotion, that was.
Well, she supposed the only course of action would be to venture into this new world and discover what brought her here.

This comic and story is loosely based upon this submission http://ryusuta.deviantart.com/art/T.....dies-475764558 by the incredible artist, Tysontan (tysontan.deviantart.com). There have been other variations of this sort of android conversion by unbelievably talented artists, such as these: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/14294078/ and http://www.furaffinity.net/view/14299980/ , and I have to say I was more than a little intimidated to try to follow suit. In addition, I wanted to capture the lineless appearance of the aforementioned submissions, so I drew the android version of me lineless; a total FIRST for me. I have to say I was very happy with the result.
Will there be another part to this? Will we learn more about what happens to me? That all depends! Let me hear in the comments if you all enjoyed this as much as I did and would like to see more! Either way, thanks everyone and I'm grateful for each and every one of you! And once again, a VERY special thanks to Tysontan, whom I hope likes my interpretation of his incredibly clever concept.
Edit: Altered the face a little. I just didn't like the "beak" look to the snout.

Yeah, I hope it does as well. I was scared to try this myself, having seen the unbelievably talented artists I liked to and their versions. Nevertheless, I pushed myself to do it, and I'm so glad I did. I loved every minute of it. <3
I'll definitely make other parts to this at some point, especially with how much people seem to be enjoying it. (Mostly on DA, since that's where most of my activity is.) Thanks a a bunch!

Anytime! Kind of took the whole thing in a bit of a different direction in my mind. Like say the traveler was caught in a terrible accident that somehow flung them through time to the same location and time only the accident injured them to the point where the machines of the facility can't identify the original species or even gender. So they instead take what they can from what consciousness remains and attempt to "revive" the person by rebuilding their body based what they are able to recover. But instead of recovering memories of what they were they instead recover dreams of what they wish they were. Thus the resulting android would be a synthetic version of their dream selves with what consciousness had survived with their body.
It is a bit darker take on the subject but the light at the end of the tunnel is that the individual has another chance to live, even if it is as a synthetic life form in a world they are new too.

i kinda wonder what id end up looking like being a kitsune id probably look like that mavric 'nine-tails' from mega-man x command mission...though i gotta admit im a yiffy foxy suddenly finding myself lacking bits might make me a bit miffed...dieing however...would make me even more miffed so...fair trade i guess.
Agreed. And believe me, curiosity about what I'd be like and an android was what made me do this. Those cute ones I linked in the description just made me fall in love with the concept. And apparently I'm not the only one, as no fewer than 3 people have already asked to commission me to make android versions of them as well. ^^;
Well that's horrifying, she's gonna have to go through a lot of malarkey to even stay alive now that she's a machine. Compatibility issues, weakness to EMF (which is everywhere in space) and general weakness to the elements then again it mentioned synthetic magic so maybe logic doesn't apply.
Actually, my internal and external functions are highly adaptable and capable of surviving and lasting in a far greater array of environmental hazards than I had been previously. In addition, my protective casing is a highly adaptable alloy that is far more durable than any conventional metal. Compatibility is not an issue as I am in sole control of any data uplink I attempt, with my conscious mind controlling and monitoring the activity every step of the way. While it is CONCEIVABLY possible to make an infinitely adaptive virus that could somehow be stealthily uploaded into my systems, such a work would take centuries of coding by even the most sophisticated A.I.s working nonstop. For perspective sake, mind control of flesh and blood beings is roughly 432,163,237,134.56 times easier to perform within the span of a few seconds. In addition, though my crystalline magical enhancement module, I am still able to draw upon environmental energy should the need arise.
...Um. Hm.
Yeah, sorry. I seem to speak oddly when I'm accessing data about myself.
Basically, don't worry. I'm very happy, safe, and content this way. =)

Alright then clearly devices that don't exist in the main world since a mere static charge would screw up a conventional machine Regardless of how tough the body is plus water and a lot of other careful weaknesses, then again I always think weaknesses would make for an interesting story because it creates conflict, a god is not very interesting to read about and very unrelatable.
Magnetism is the bane of my existence, since I'm an organic interpretation of what is for lack of a better term Garbage data, a missingno, after all.

Hmmm, really intersting. Though I am curious now what the machines saw it necessary to be convert you into a dragon android.
Also....even if Firelight 2.0 has every single memory of her fleshy version available...wouldn't she be a mere copy of Firelight 1.0? Only if something like a soul would be still connected to the new version of you, could you really say that your...are still you?
